Status updates for the New Year

I hope you’re all enjoying the new year. Now, there’s a few reasons why we haven’t updated in a while, one being that we’re busy. Second, we have our own lives to run, and can’t be on the Internet all the time. I just want to extend my thank you for the people who continue to support us, despite no releases in the last month. That’s not to say that there hasn’t been activity lately. In fact, by next weekend there will be at least 5 releases of Zetman, Angel Heart and BReaction! We are also starting several new projects which are short manga stories. We are not accepting any project proposals from you guys though, but if we do we will ask the community for help (if it comes to it, please don’t say Gantz or One Piece, the last time the majority suggested it I bashed my head on the keyboard). There will be some guidelines posted if we do choose to ask for suggestions.
It doesn’t seem there has been any dates set for the next Berserk chapter. So please, don’t ask. You’ll get a polite ‘piss off’, or a rude ‘go away’ depending on our moods. Also, if you think that the writer’s strike is affecting Miura’s ability to make a chapter, then you have to stop dreaming (yes, I have been asked that question). First of all, Japan is not in America. According to an atlas, there are countries outside of America. Secondly, I really don’t think that the strike extends and affects globally that writers outside of America are on strike because they want the the peanut sized internet residuals. Although I haven’t seen any TV shows come out from Estonia lately…
Originally I had an omake parody of how the Berserk lateness is affecting the groups of the community and wanted to post that. Things always sound better in your head, but fail in execution. But it turns out it was incredibly horrid, so if I get around to make it better, then I’ll post it next weekend with the releases. Then you can laugh at my ‘comedic genius’ or laugh with it.

Oh well. Thank you at least for keepin us posted about berserk. If only there was a way I could figure out when the release dates were I could at least keep cool about it. But w/e, I know sooner or later there will be berserk for it must continue ^_^ However, doesnt it seem like berserk is almost at an end? I meen gutz is so close to elfheim and griffith pretty much has his kingdom so tehre is only so little room left. I can’t wait for the final battle when Gutz desposes of Griffith and his petty self.

Well…no matter what, no matter when – I WILL wait. I just hope it’s some kind of holidays in Japan that causes this delay or mr Miura just needs some more time to think about great battle between Emperor and Griffith – NOT some his sickness or unfortunate accident. As for you guys – you doing great work and don’t let anyone say otherwise. Take all the time you need to prepare next release. I admire quality EG offers and you can be sure that I’ll come back for more.

Okay, I can see people asking for Gantz from you guys, it just seems the type of manga (and no, I’m not saying you should do it. Others already have this one taken care of)you do, but OP?!? I’m sorry, but that is not the style of manga you tend to translate, and besides almost everyone is doing it.
I’m just glad to hear from you guys and am eagerly awaiting the next few chapters that you are releasing. As far as Muria and Berserk, well my vote is on the 2+ months part. Granted I wish that it would come out faster, but we can’t have everything all the time. Continue kicking the rumps on these translations, and remember that we all apreciate your hard work.

Can I get any one elses opinion on this? I can totally see what Berserker is saying about the series seeming to be at a close end. I feel that this is why it is taking so long ot come out b/c miura needs time to figure out how he will develop the story line in a way that everything would could come together in a nice fit. Does any one else see that berserk is at a close end?

Always happy to wait for an amazing piece of art… i always understood the length of time in-between just looking at ONE cell from any of the issues of Berserk… lets see any of these complaining wankers draw anything half as good in twice the time.. anyways.. thanks a mill for the update.. always happy to hear whats up.. don’t worry about the drama.. there will still be plenty of us hanging around who just NEED another Berserk fix… no-matter when the arrival time..

this long looog wait for berserk has gotten me all worried. I really hope nothing bad happened to Miura. It would be quite a tragedy if something happened to him or if he just got bored of making berserk. Otherwise the storyline, from my point of view, doesn’t at all seem to be getting closer to it’s end. We have no idea how will the emperor look after divind into that man-made-beherit, maybe he will be a match for Griffith and they will start a war or sth. And we are still in for a big surprise when Guts and co get to elfheim. Maybe Caska will get her senses back and there will be major development in the Caska-Guts problem. Anyway, emperor Ganiska and elfheim open a lot of possibilities.

Ppl think that it’s coming close to an end; I don’t believe it’s the case. A few “volumes ago”, Miura explained that we were at the HALF of his project; maybe he feels like he is hurrying up too much the main intrigue and making enough side scenarios and richer background – from that he could be having problems trying to find out how is he going to slow the paste down – more details from what is seen lately but the main stream going at the same rate? Making some more characters and some events to bounce Gatts’ progress to Griffith/Save what is left for him back behind? We’ll see.

I once heard that there is going to be about 60 chapters of Berserk? It does sound like A LOT more to wait, does anyone know what Miura said about everything? I meen, I’ve been following this manga for years now and I would like to see the end before I die…

@ reply 11. Schrananapuss: We all love Berserk, the art and story, everything. And we’re also “trying” to be very patient. However I strongly dislike when someone starts justifying these long release breaks. Other mangaka keep a steady release schedule and so did he in the past. Apart from him or a close family member/friend being ill, there is no excuse for these delays. Lack of inspiration or the drawing going too slow is a matter of dedication.
Hey, I’m not trying to be the evil berserk fan here who just NEEDS his chapter every 2 weeks, if Kentarou lost interest in the manga, or he has other hobbies that simply take up all his time, it can’t be helped, we can’t force the guy to release, but don’t EXCUSE these HUGE delays. It’s painful to listen to.

but i also hope you take the communities opinion into consideration to choose what you scanlate
(well coz i wanna suggest King of Bandit Jing, both series^^, till now noone has scanlated it, which really is a shame^^)

I probably sound like a broken record, but as long as people continue to bring up how long it’s taking Miura to release the next Berserk, I’m going to continue throwing this out there…
Since I’ve been around, we’ve had to wait as long as FOUR MONTHS between Berserk releases. We’ve just barely gotten past the two month mark since the last release. It’s not like a wait this long is unprecedented. Nothing has happened to Miura. He just takes long breaks.

Yes, I happen to have heard from a very reliable source that Mr. Miura is currently on the lam, pursued tirelessly by a T-1000 prototype seeking his undoing. It seems that skynet determined that Miura’s frequent breaks were inefficient, and committed to replacing him with an android. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

I still say you guys should scanlate Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu. Last time I mentioned it, you guys said you were going for a theme thing, like dark/comedy. Well, its a whole hell of a lot darker than b reaction… I still dont know why you guys picked that one up.. its alright I guess. I still think Guu is also alot funnier, you just gotta give it a chance. Read some chapters of it, I guarantee youll fall in love with it, especially if you liked NHK.
And as for Berserk taking so long between chapters, give the guy a break people! Miura is human being too after all and deserves some rest. Atleast he’s not pulling a Togashi and taking a 2 year hiatus like with Hunter X Hunter.
I’d also like to take another moment to express my hatred for Berserk abridged. I believe it to be a mockery to Miura’s masterpiece and I would not touch with a ten foot pole if such things were possible.

I am very much looking foward to the next chapter of Berserk. I don’t mind Miura taking breaks with chapters, though I am slightly concerned that he will die before the story is over.. I mean there is no end in sight at the moment, as Griffith is seemingly untouchable. I wonder will Ganishka be able to harm him?

BigBonk, to be honest, since we’re all leeching off from the internet, we can’t have a right to complain as we are not the consumers. Miura does incredibly detailed work, much that surpasses many mangas and other comics out there. I would rather he maintains the quality of the manga, rather than take shortcuts here and there, and as a result the quality suffers and declines. Now, we don’t really know the real reasons for the delays. He could be feverishly drawing the pages as we speak, or he could be taking a break. Or he could have stopped working in defiance, until Marvel restores Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s marriage. We really don’t know at this point. Whether or not he is obligated to make timely releases contractually or otherwise, I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem that Young Animal is taking any actions towards Miura. Berserk is Young Animal’s flagship manga, and I don’t think they would risk damaging the relationship between the publisher and the mangaka. However, my maintain my stance of maintaining quality, rather than having the quality decline or have fill-in artists complete the work (which will, inevitably lead to inconsistent art and the quality would suck).
Steve, to be honest, I don’t quite like the art style of Jungle Guu. There’s nothing that captivates me about it unfortunately. But we will definitely consider it as a project option.
Also, in the defense of hbi2k’s abridged Berserk, he does do brilliant work with it. If you take a minute to sit back and think about it, he does put a lot of work into it, and his efforts are appreciated by many. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, like yours Steve. But the rest of the people love his work and can’t wait for more to come in, while waiting for the next chapter of Berserk. Honestly, I love humour that pokes fun at itself or the serious subject matter.

It’s like a dialog worse than trying with deaf people. They hear, they know, they sure damn read, but they refuse to understand and find comfort in b*tching about not getting the next chapter. It’s getting old, we’ve all been through these pointless arguments over and over again, now E.G makes it a tad more clear for the dull that ppl that wish to complain – at least towards E.G – can gtfo kthx.
…Still doesn’t seem to ring ppl’s ears and as soon someone will try to be more explicit to be sure it’s clear, we’re sounding rude to ppl who didn’t really have any manners or respect for the ones that provide them a pleasure for free.
I’m gonna give you one: Not because of the wait, but because of the constant, tireless bullshit that I have to read every damn time and now it’s like 20% of the comments that are interesting to read and share thoughts with about “what do you think is next in Berserk” or “Do you think X is related to Z? I mean check chapter xxx and chapter yyy You’ll see what I mean” and so on.

From what I’ve heard, zetman is pretty much Masakazu Katsura’s attempt at a superhero comic. It can’t really be compared to Berserk, although it is almost as dark. Modern era, research on superhumans, vigilante boy with access to tons of technology, conspiracies, etc…
