Since this thread should be dead, I'll ask - when did Gutts get injured by Slan? I don't remember that scene. Was it in the woods with the trolls and whatnot? Does anyone want to post me a manga graphic?

I don't think Griffith is a better swordfighter than Gutts. He may be a better leader, but don't forget, Gutts owned Griffith in a one-on-one encounter before he left the Hawks. As for Griffith not needing Gutts, I think that's only partially true. I don't think Griffith had any unusual connection t...

As was demonstrated in the most recent chapters, Serpico's fighting style and abilities complement Gutts very well. Granted, Gutts takes all the hits, all the risks, and is ultimately more skilled and more terrifying than Serpico. But they did fight as equals against this Hindu Sorcerer, at least at...

And if you're still interested Libaax, Puck has to heal Guts, Evarella's got him whipped... That's like the first time in a million jillion chapters that Puck has done anything. My personal opinion is that Gutts can't take down Griffith/Femto, or any God Hand right now - nevermind an army of high A...

I meant eventually, he has to face Griffith and his band. Maybe off topic, but do you think Gutts has the power to kill Griffith, or any God Hand? He didn't fare so well against Femto after the Count's death (volume 3). And how much of the God Hand power has Griffith retained since his earthly rein...

Yep. Plus, no one would really want to read 1000 pages of one guy running around killing some people. As far as novels go, that's not particularly interesting. I enjoy novels with more intrigue, and a deeper plot than just run-of-the-mill murdering - I think both Berserk and The Count of Monte Crist...

Frankly, that scene is actually tame compared to some Berserk scenes. If you're on this forum it is presumably because you like the manga, so I don't see any reason for concern.

Exactly. Give me some good old violence and gore, add a touch of nudity, and I'm seriously entertained.

Miura was pretty involved in the anime - even the music selections were his.

As an interesting sidenote, the creative producer (who oversees production, and is not the "big boss") said he would love to do another Berserk series covering the events after the eclipse.

2. the revenge part of course. I'd say the revenge part is largely what drives Berserk. Everyone wants to see Gutts tear Griffith a new one. At least I do. As for the Count of Monte Cristo, it is the quintessential revenge classic. I'm not saying there are obvious parallels everywhere, but I wouldn...

Who knows really its unlikely but his mother could have had a fling with Legolas type elf and produce Gutts Razz It's an interesting thought that Gutts might be part elf (or part anything other than human). But I don't think that would flow well with one of the essential themes of Berserk; that Gut...

Atleast Muira rape scenes has anything to do with the story most mangas i have seen with a rape scene are only a pervertet fantasy or something for sick fun. That was exactly my point. As for Miura "liking" rape scenes, all I meant was that he's managed to work a lot of them into his stor...

That pretty much answers my question right there. Miura sure does like his rape scenes - although they're all extremely integral to the plot and character development. Particularly for Caska, I'd say.

Just to clarify: By 300 issues, I meant 300 volumes, with multiple chapters to each volume. Berserk has a long way to go to catch up.

OK, yeah, there's no tie-in. It would seem some newbs have threadjacked. Someone earlier in this thread (I think) likened Berserk to Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo." The more I think about it, the more similarities I find. Quick, someone post something else to get the thread b...

Well, then Berserk will likely just keep getting better. I've heard Miura was largely inspired by a manga with over 300 issues, and last I heard, still wasn't finished. I should find out which manga that was...

OK fine. Just to be clear then, I have no intentions - no desire, even - of hurting anyone, mangaka or otherwise. Heck, I can't even afford a plane ticket to Japan. So now the point is moot.

Who was going to rape her...as usual, which sends Guts into regression of the godhand experience, hence his craziness. How much of Gutts' rape-rage do you think stems from Caska getting raped, rather than from his own childhood horror of getting forcefully raped by Donovan? Which would be more trau...

Gutts' mother was part of a band of gypsies, if I recall correctly from either the anime or manga. In medieval times, gypsies were considered both heretics and criminals - I'm sure there was very little trial or real conviction. I don't remember any mention of Gutts being part elf. I'm sure Gutts is...

I guess I'm really lucky to live in Toronto. There's not a single bookstore I've ever been in that doesn't have stacks of manga everywhere - usually displayed proudly right by the door. The Berserk volumes are usually nicely shrink-wrapped, but no "explicit material" warnings. There are al...

True but I am pretty sure it wouldn't be Muira you would have to convince I thought Miura had stated that he didn't want to see another Berserk animated series? Maybe I shouldn't post something like that without some sort of proof - I think I read it in an issue of Anime Insider with some special f...
