FAQ exclusive: How to revive a thread without doubleposting

Post by psi29a »

Alrighty, since the clue-bus has pulled out of the station and left many stranded or perhaps you come from another world and don't know how we do things around here... read carefully. 8)

That is ok, today's lesson is going to be all about how to revive a dead thread without double posting.

What: Editing your last post does not make the thread 'new' again, yes even I thought that phpBB had some trickery up their sleeve but I assure you they do not and no one cares about making a mod for it.

How: You make sure your post is the last one in the thread, and you copy it (Highlight, Ctrl-C). You then delete your previous post, and make a new post with your old content plus your new content! This makes the thread appear fresh to the forums.

Why: Because it is good fricken manners to not double post. This applies to folks that have additional information or wish to address a different topic/person. This way the people coming after you and read and understand the flow without having to deal with BS and redundant stuff.

This will merged into the Guidelines as a better explanation to the double post problem.

So, any questions? :OWTH:

I unknowingly quadruple posted in the Interstice after I got myself de-modded once.

Good thing ol' Munedizzle was there to sort things out.

At the very least, I'm sure people just joining this board will appreciate it, although...meh I'll just shut up now. I've learned my lesson. Please don't burn me at the stake. *hides*

May I ask what happened with your mod status?

EDIT - Got rid of the stupid question, I see that Mod-Hand just mods every thing now.

The story was that Femto was sexually harrassed by a monkey, and he asked for his mod status to be removed because of that. Yes, I bet it was traumatic.

And it is, of course, very wise to underline it. Unless it was irony?
