Oh… I already forgot, what was in previous chapter… Not to mention Berserk… I think, that I will not personally live enough to read last chapter of this manga… Miura will also eventually “kick the bucket”, so it will be never finished… Thank You πŸ™‚ for patience! And for translation πŸ™‚

  18. Jin21 Says:

I think I’m done waiting for Berserk, this has become ridiculous. I can’t keep putting myself through this I’m going to take a two year hiatus and hopefully Miura will have hopefully written something

  19. RedSamurai Says:

@Jin21: That’s just how good Berserk is: no matter how neglected we readers feel, we just keep coming for it…

It’s quite the perfect drug πŸ™‚

  20. Guts Says:

    @RedSamurai

Yeah but like any other addicting drug, when you quit it and see how good it feels not to be intoxicated you don’t ever want to touch it again…

  21. RedSamurai Says:

@Guts: It seems there is no quitting a “perfect” drug

  22. Mystyc Vegeta Says:

I think whoever quits for goo, was never truly a Berserk addict.

  23. Hiatus Says:

@Mystic Vegeta I think the question is whether Miura has quit for good. As I’ve said before I think we can all agree that we are beyond the regular delay between the chapters and have now entered a situation that should be called a hiatus.

But it also seems that Miura by steadily increasing the delays over the past 5-6 years has created a situation for himself that he can pretty much do whatever he wants, and the fans/publishers will brush it off as a “normal delay”, it will be here soon(TM).

If you turn your heads for a moment and look at the shounen mangakas that are pretty much being driven like slaves, one creator (apparently) recently had his manga posted upside down in the magazine cause he missed a deadline. Things like a 1! week delay will also be posted in the magazine. If you look at Fairy Tail (I know its significance and ART compared to Berserk is like dust to the wind) the creator recently released 3 chapters, 2 weeks in a row. So yeah, a slight difference here in activity levels/demands from publishers.

Again, Miura has created a superbly lucrative situation for himself, everything is just a normal delay, it will be out soon(TM), but what can fans like us do, apart from waiting some more? πŸ™

  24. Valja Says:

I’ve never started reading Berserk, mainly because of the frequent delays (I wanted to try it, but friends warned me about this grueling wait and I got scared), and by reading your comments I’m more convinced of my choice… These long delays without a convincing reason are killing you berserk fans! That’s terrible! I was so much into another manga, really popular, but due to the frequent hiatuses (the mangaka was often sick) it just recently got kicked out of the magazine it was published on – and that was an awesomely famous manga – and now its future is questionable. That is to say, I dunno on which magazine Berserk is published, but Miura shouldn’t take his time so easily, I mean being a mangaka is a job after all! A doctor can’t simply “stop” visiting his patients for three months because he’s got something better to do…
Ouch, I’m sorry, I got myself involved in your anxiety even though I’m not a fan… but reading your comments made me feel sympathetic :/
Sorry for my bad english. Oh, and… thank again EG for Zet πŸ™‚

  25. pastorgaines Says:

    Zetman!

  26. stargood Says:

@Jin21, only 2 years? Sure, Miura will have written something by then. However, I’d say there is a damn good chance that Guts & company will still be on Roderick’s boat on the way to Elfheim.

  27. Jin21 Says:

I have been reading Berserk since 2001, which might not seem that long for some people but I was only 13 then. I am partly through my twenties and looking back over the years I have enjoyed Berserk more than any other work of fiction to date. But the simple fact is I find myself obsessing over this manga and wanting to see where the story goes and how it ends and I feel like I will never truly get to see that happen. So in essence I am simply going to refrain from looking for any Berserk news for awhile. Hopefully in that time I can accomplish some great things in my life. I might even get back into writing or acting. What ever path life takes I am just trying to remove the distractions in my life at the moment and Berserk has been a major one. So in essence I actually need my Hiatus. I’m not sure Miura needs as much as he takes but I’m taking one.
