The Talk-About-Retrogaming thread

Post by Femto »

Have you been getting your retrogaming fix lately? Post what old-school games you've been playing/wanting to play in the last few days. Emulation, actual hardware, p0rts, re-releases, it's all good. Let's remember the good times and get a nice nostalgia trip in doing so. :D

I've been personally wanting to get an actual SNES console to play Yoshi's Island on teh 'bay. Only god knows where my old one is at this point.

Best. Videogame cover. Ever.

If I get that SNES console, I'll probably get this to go along with Yoshi's Island and maybe Donkey Kong Country too. I'll worry about those time-consuming RPGs later.

SNES = Gaming bliss.

On the N64, I've got an urge to play Goemon's Great Adventure. Cheesy japanese atmosphere and calling a giant robot to fight for you? What could be better?
On the SNES, I really want to get and play Tales of Fantasia. Very cool RPG.
As for the NES, SMB 3 was the greatest!

I still got my old original SNES and many games and many Emus and Roms.

The SNES is cool for regular gaming. My little sister recently brought me some SNES Games that she got for free.

Nice topic :D

I just started playing good ol' classics on snes I each one I've played pretty quickly. Of course th rpg's take a bit.
I beat Contra III today on hard mode, took me about 3 hours cause I lost all my continues at the last stage and had to start all over again. (I Loathe that.)
Contra aside, I'd say knights of the round on snes and Streets of rage 2 on genesis are the coolest classic beat em up games I've played recently.

Im running through ff3 on my emu now ... fast forward is fun.

I've been playing FF VI on an emu and the only thing I have left to do is beat Kefka.
I've also been playing Faxanadu and River City Ransom on my NES emu

I can't understand how I've managed to play these games without fast forward back in the good old days...

Fast forward rocks!

I did play MK back in the day, but in retrospect, I see how badly it sucked.

Both, and music too. It's just a terrible fighting game, doesn't hold a candle to Super Turbo, not even the sequels.

I agree with that one, but you can't deny that back in its time MK was the king of gore and catch phrases, ie "TOSTY!" or "Excellent."

The game itself reminded me of a movie called Big trouble in little china, if you've ever seen it you'd agree.

The appealing factor about MK was really the fatalities.

I liked Deception though.

The entire time I played MK I was only able to pull off 2 finishers on MK1
Scorpion (block up, up)
Liu Kang (Block rotate D-pad)

Other then that I was the one getting finished by the comp or a friend. The old days kind of suck, damn unresponsive controllers.

oh, for genesis blood code is, abacabb. For those who care
