My point being that Revolution will have the world's hithereto largest library of games available at launch (if the internet service is fully functional at that point).

And that it has got more good games than the Xbox had games during its lifespan. (past tense for teh next generation win)

As much of a Nintendo fan I am ... Revolution will never win. PS3 wins ... The original Playstation won with some shoddy hardware. The PS2 won and that had the worst hardware out of the 3 main consoles. Now the PS3 will have the BEST hardware on top of its huge library of games.

No contest.

As I said I think the Nintendo revolution has the best design. It's simple and not that pimped-up like the other consoles are. Maybe Nintendo isn't allways at the grafical top but the gameplay and fun often is.

but most people that are gonna pay for the next gen consoles are gonna be in the 17-30 age range... cuz i doubt most those little 10 year olds have 500 to shell out.. and peopl of the 17-30 have already played the living hell out of the classics.... and once again nintendo is trying to save themself by giving us something we already have played.. damn nintendo get with it... INNOVATE!!!!

Right now, I think Xbox 360 is most appealing. The PS3 looks amazing, but I didnt see any games that I really wanted to play and I still dont believe that all those videos are real-time. Revolution will be the last of the next-gen consoles that I get, if I do get all of them. It will take them a few years before they release a new Zelda game for it and Zelda is the only franchise that I really care about.

Halfnhalf is saying Nintendo is about too much recycling old games when PS3 and Xbox 360 comes with new games and products. So nintento will be dead last again.

PS3 will win huge since sony already have 60 million + new people now that Xbox isnt better as it was in this generation.

I've already played those old games, so backwards compatibilty is pointless in a sense. It's nice to have as an extra, but fuck them if they plan on charging for it. Besides, this will mostly appeal to the hardcore audience. Do you think little Timmy will care about playing Contra or Super Mario Bros.? He probably just cares about the OMFG graphics, which the Revolution will probably not have in comparison to other consoles.

I'm willing to hold out judgement on Revolution until I see what the revolution is all about. Right now:

PS3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> X-Box 360

Just having MGS4 makes this a no-contest already. The name is stupid, the console is ugly, the games are same old, same old (more FPS?), etc. The 360 is doomed to fail, it'll put Microsoft out of the gaming market. Mark my words.

Contra's the best shooter ever. I remember the old Nes to SNES days ever so fondly... *sigh*

And if they bastardise this, I'll probably kill them. Then again, I'm not going to buy the consoles or the games because I'm poor.

Has it been announced that Nintendo will charge for downloading old games? I know when I was reading articles during the E3 press conferences they had not announced if it would be for a fee or have free access. I believe that if it was for free or nearly free say $1 USD, then Nintendo has a chance, it certainly has the potential to be the best feature of any of the consoles. Nintendo is betting there is more to gaming than graphics, we'll see if they are correct.

Meh, I only got a PS2 because it was the only system that had games from Square, but now they are making games for 360 and Mistwalker is making a few games for 360 too. So PS3 doesnt really have any exclusives that I care for, never been a MGS or Tekken fan. And after my PS2 broke for no reason, I swore that I would never buy a new Sony product right away again. Going to wait for them to work out all the bugs and crap.

thats is exactly what i am saying. Nintendo is still trying to do the "gaming first" idea... in this day and age.. people want more. I mean its simple product selling... give what the people want and they will buy. Force them into buying a product that doesnt given them what they want... might as well no waste any money...

Meh imo consoles will always be inferior compared to a regular computer.

*You can't get the right feeling when playing FPS games on a console*

*Inferior gfx, The coming console gfx is the computers yesterday gfx*

etc etc etc.. : -)

Well polls suggest that Nintendo has a strong chance, at least in Japan. Famitsu magazine reported that 42% polled were looking forward to Revolution most as the next-gen system. Sony was a close second with 40% and MS distant third with 18%.

That's the only "better-than-a-console" genre you could think of, right? Aside from FPS and strategy games, playing a console is way better than playing a PC. PC games suck either way. Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 are the only decent PC games I can think of, and both are getting p0rts for teh bawks anyway.
isse-pisse-päron-pung wrote:*Inferior gfx, The coming console gfx is the computers yesterday gfx*
Graphics don't make the game. Period.

Those were all the reasons you could think of, right?

PC gaming is pointless. A PC is just something that can play games as a freebie, it doesn't compare to a dedicated gaming system. PC gaming just plain sucks, doesn't even compare to a console. I'm sure most of the people here will agree with me.

I agree with you Femto. In my opinion the controls on consoles are far superior to a keyboard for most games, TV is much more convenient than a monitor and the while the graphics can be better on the computer this is not always the case, for example when they ported GTA: Vice City to the computer the graphics were arguably no better than the PS2 version, which had been released a number of months previously. Bottom line is some games are better on the computer, usually due to controls, for example I'd hate to play Sid Meier's Civilization III on a console, but for most games a console is much more fun to play on.

Baldur's Gate! How can you not say that? I don't even trust you anymore, you even dismissed the advent children trailer a while back.

And no I don't believe the Revolution is coming out on top, I'm not a fan of a console that only really gets first party games. If everything was like that then Bioware, Atlus, and Konami(didn't they make something?) could just make consoles for their games. It would be a clear waste of money on my behalf. Xbox360 has been getting more 3rd party support and now even more from the japanese market. I don't think it will come out on top but I know it's going to stay in second.

That's why i and many millions have faith in Sony cause they know what we want and keep feeding us with it. For example they announced MGS4,DMC4,Killzone 2 made me and people who likes those games to forget about Xbox 360,Revolution.

Imagine Fable on the computer...

controlling the guy with w a s d

and then not having to have such ridiciously problems with aiming with the bow, which could been much easier done with the mouse =)

and, you probably know that most gfx cards have a tv-out port ;).

Other than that I agree that some games are suited for consoles. I wouldn't imagine to play fighting games on the computer but other than that the computer is perfectly fine for everything else.

to Femto: HL2 and D3 the only decent games? Heck you don't play multiplayer games do you? Just look at a so called dedicated scene like cs. In Sweden its the most popular sport for example. Or just look at big big battles in bf1942 where theres like 60 persons on a single server. It is those elements I miss the most in a console. Closest thing that comes to something like it is Halo, Halo 2 I guess.

woa woa woa... fable... that game sucked. the AI sucked balls, never died once...

as for PC gaming... its dying slowly... plus people want the computer shit on the TV not in some other room that isnt comfortable. Sure gaming in your dorms would mostly be done on your comp, but looking at the next gen consoles, man im already kissing my comp goodbye...

It's coming, Fable PC Version, with new missions and shit. And yeah many games are better on consoles, but some are better on PC. And I'll stay loyal to my PC. :?

No the PC gaming is not dying, believe me. In Korea Gaming has gone so big that they even show league matches at tv. I can not confirm this rumour but I heard that Starcraft is going to be in the olympics 2008 in China.

Not to forget to mention how many gamers that can earn their keep just by playing counter-strike or warcraft, starcraft whatever.

But everyone has their own favourite things so im not gonna try persuade you guys into thinking something else.

Im gonna stay loyal to my PC ;) Though im gonna buy ps3 ;]
