I dont care about the genre too much as long as it has a good storyline.

Fighters and Shooters.

Best Fighters - Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Virtual Fighter 4, Tekken 5, SoulCalibur II, Vampire Savior, Last Blade 2, Samurai Showdown 4, and KOF (I can't choose which one.) And these are not in any order or anything even though 3rd Strike is definetly numero uno.

Bess Shooters - These are in order.

Radiant Silvergun
Gradius V
Ikaruga
Dodonpachi
Guwange
Galactic Attack (aka Layer Section) (aka Rayblast) (aka Gunlock)
Border Down
Dragon Blaze (It would be higher if it was not fucking impossible)
E.S.P. Ra.De.

Samurai Shodown 4? That's easily the worst game in the series. The stupid CD combo BS turns the game into some combo freakfest and that's not what Samsho is all about. SS2 and SS5S own its ass. And it's 'Shodown' not 'Showdown.' Respect engrish dammit!

And I also quote Buzkashi here, except for one little word:

I dont care about the genre too much as long as it has good gameplay.

I do play all genres, and as long as the game play is good, then I am a happy camper. But fighters and shooters are still my fav.

I have to admit while I enjoyed Samurai Shodown 4, I never really dug into it, so I don't know how broke it is. And I thought Samurai Shodown 3 was the worst one. But any who, yeah, Samurai Shodown 2 was probably teh best. I don't think I am as skilled as you are at SNK games in general Femto, so I won't talk like I am the all knowing authority or anything. My problem has been finding a scource for SNK info, like how to fight at high level and what not, but those videos at the orochi place are really gonna help my game, so I appreciate it Femto.

Oh, and I have not played 5 yet, but boy do I wanna.

The thing with Samurai Shodown is that it's played differently than most fighters. It's the complete opposite of something like MVC2 for example. It's not about combos or chipping damage, it's about landing that one hit that will scew up the opponent completely. If you go into the game with this mindset you'll improve dramatically. I've just realized this myself because, sadly, I'm not really good at either SS or Last Blade. Emulation doesn't do it for me, and it's impossible to find these games in the arcade, so I haven't played them enough to be decent. I really want to buy a consolized MVS so I can play them properly, waiting for teh p0rts sucks.

Download this video to see a great SS5S match. The first one is meh, but the second one is awesome. You can decompress it with Winrar if you're on windowz.

The video was hot. Sucks that we are not getting SS5S. Are the balance issues really that bad on SS5??

Well, I know that Yoshitora is overpowered in V/Zero, his B Nadeshiko is godly in that game. I don't know a lot more than that but yeah, Zero Special is overall the better game. It's more balanced, it has the bosses from the previous games and it has Zetsumei Ougis (fatalities) in it. You saw one in that link I gave you. The presention is miles better too, the artwork is just awesome. I guess that video makes more sense if you know exactly what happens in the end, but it'd take too long to explain right now and I'm not in the mood.

Anyways, that's enough off-topicness here I think.

I seriously think that if I had only an SNES and a few RPGs, I could keep myself busy for years, especially looking for extra stuff. I just picked up Final Fantasy III (VI) and realized I haven't killed all the dragons. Just killed the Dirt Dragon, the easiest one. Just cast float, use Edgar's tool to give him a weakness, hit'em with Bum Rush, rinse and repeat. I am going around looking for the rest, I think you get an Esper after you kill them all. Crusader, I believe.

Terra, Locke, Edgar and Sabin = Teh Sh1tz0r!

Ahh, FF 3/6, brings back memories. Several years ago, my brother (an avid RPG player) was playing it for the SNES while I watched (RPGs generally bore me). I started to get a little bored and began playing around with the second player controller, as I had helped (read: mostly hinder) him in playing SoM and was curious if it worked, and pressed the two buttons for run from battle. Sure enough his team turned around to run and I promptly stopped, that time.

Curious now, I began making them attempt to run several times, which led to humorous moments such as Sabin (I think) firing his energy-esque beam facing the wrong way, plus other characters attacking facing the other way. And me making his entire team run while Sabin was attacking, leaving just Sabin in the battle (he lost, oops).

And my favorite genres are FPS (Quake 3!) and RTS (though I suck a lot).

my favorite two genres are World War II FPS and real-time strategy but real time, not that futuristic shit. starcraft is an exception

shooters would be my 3rd, but i only played ones on the mad old school systems. it has recently been revived by freelancer :D

I love good action rpgs like Castlevania Symphony of the Night and action games with story like the Legacy of Kain series (except Blood Omen 2 blows) DMC 1&3, Onimusha, God of War and such. But I will play anything if it has good gameplay.

RPGs and First Person Shooters are my favorites. I love RPGs for the stories they can produce and FPS' for the stressful days (sometimes you gotta shoot some people down to be happy).

Fav RPGs? The Phantasy Star series for the Genesis has always held a special place in my heart. I'm against the Online games, since they're not running along the main storyline. The FF games are pretty decent, too.

As for FPS', I'm all about Half-Life and Call of Duty. Half-Life has some damn kick ass mods for it (Natural Selection is, by far, the BEST. Screw Counterstrike. CS is for noobs).

i happen to like space shooters. but my liking of space shooters have been like a roller coaster ride. i loved them on the old school consoles, like 1942 n stuff. then came 3d shooters on the pc and bigboy consoles like colony wars. then it kinda started dying out with the disappointment of homeworld:cataclysm and no new wing commander recently. however, the genre revived for me with the recent FREELANCER :D

Have you ever played Gradius V, Ikaruga, Border Down, or the legendary Radiant Silvergun??? (By the way dos, it was on Saturn only.) Those games kill any FPS on the market in my opinion.
