The Giant E3 '05 Thread

Post by Femto »

Yes, I know E3 is still a month away but c'mon, E3 is THE gaming event of the year, and it'd suck if we get a late start on the news. I say we keep this thread as a place to keep all the information regarding E3. There are already news on what to expect from the show, so it's not really that early. I'll start by announcing SNKPlaymore's lineup this year:

King of Fighters '94 Re-Bout (Xbox)
King of Fighters 02/03 (Xbox)
King of Fighters: Maximum Impact - Maniax (Xbox)
Metal Slug 1 (GBA)
Metal Slug 4 & 5 (PS2, Xbox)
Samurai Shodown V (Xbox)

Nothing too surprising really, specially compared to last year, but here's hoping for a surprise title or two. No new titles, but no NGBC either?

I hear ya about Metal Slug Southpaw. I still can't believe Sony didn't let Metal Slug 3 get released here in the States. That game is worth more than any stupid sports title IMO. 2D gaming bliss.

Anyways, here is Capcom's E3 list:

Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance (PS2, Xbox)
Flipnic Ultimate Pinball (PS2)
Killer 7 (Cube, PS2)
Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Colonel (GBA)
Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Protoman (GBA)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS)
Without Warning (PS2, Xbox)

Again, there's not one title in there that I'm excited about.

Samurai Showdown V is an Xbox exclusive! How lame. Heh, I still haven't played IV, that's sad.

There are only two things I want out of E3 this year;

Kingdom Hearts II, and The Legend of Zelda.

I honesly couldn't care less about the PS2, but the Xbox 360 at least appears to be remotely interesting, as well as the Revolution....

I heard that Namco is releasing more info on Soul Calibur 3 at E3, with like a playable demo. That's what I'm talking about! :P

BTW, Femto, you know if KIF: Maximum Impact - Maniax is just an X-Box version of the game, or will it have new characters?

I'm assuming it's just the X-Box version with online play, but who knows, we might see a new character or two. I think it's also going to have the japanese voice-overs included, and not just the horrible english ones found in the PS2 version.

Worst English dub in a game ever.

Man, I must be slipping in my old age, what is Beat Down Fists of Vengeance?

EDIT - Oh I just remembered, Castle of Shikagami 2 for the PS2 has the worst english dub and translation ever.

So, I managed to find a site where a guy in Microsoft's lab snaped a shot of the prototype X-Box 2 and got it up on the web. Wanted to show people what to expect at E3.

Check it out Here!

I don't think that Bill Gates is evil, hell I think he is one of the better corporate monsters. (That is not saying much though) I like my XBOX even though it is huge. XBOX also has the worst controller for a fighting game ever. But hey, I still like it, Panzer Dragoon Orta owns. :P

Glad you guys liked it. I also found out that X-Box plans to capitalize on the Handheld wars between PSP and DS. Check out the concept of the Microsofts portrable console, Here

im lookin forward to see the next PSP games too, since i will obtain a PSP in the next month or two hopefully.

i wonder when that PS9 or whatever will ever come out. remember like years ago they had that commerical where some dude opens up a crystal sphere and all of a sudden he closes his eyes and hes playing the game in his mind. then when its done he opens them wide open and then the screen turns black and then some text pops up "the beginning" then "PS9" and then i was like "OH SHIT THAS MAD CRAZY YO"

yeh wonder if thatll ever come out. god bless sony and them creative japs working there

Yeah supposedly the PSP is a little fragile. And there are some other faults I guess

1.) The PSP can somehow spit your game cartridge out if it is held a certain way or something :

Image

2.) There is a design issue with the Square button not lining up right:

Whoops!

I think you have to put pressure on it as if you were trying to bend or twist the PSP for the game disc to fall out, it is a disc by the way, not a cart. Pretty sure it is DVD.

My friend says it is impractical for a DVD to fall out during game play because most people wouldn't try to twist the PSP while playing. But he is a Sony Fan Boy hardcore so I don't take his opinion too highly. I guess it depends on how "in" to the game you get. Some people grip controllers really tight during heated game play, some people bob and weave during game play, I guess if you are playing Ridge Racer or Darkstalkers and the competition gets hot and heavy you may apply a twisting like pressure on the PSP and eject the disc.

I have only played on a PSP for a minute tops, I did not get to test the square button thing too thoroughly. I can imagine it might have an effect on games like Darkstalkers, but it may not even be an issue, I don't know.

Well, that is what I heard about the PSP, hope it helps Dos.

I try to stay away from console wars and what not, and try not to pick sides. I own a DS, and I want a PSP, it is just that the 250 dollar price tag is too high for me right now.

Edit - Fixed some spelling :)

Well, from what I've heard/read it's more fragile in the sense that the giant screen doesn't have a cover, so if you drop it the wrong way, it might break. The DS has this flip top thing that covers both screens, so you don't have to be as careful with it as with the PSP.

Meh, I'm still waiting to which system will have the better games, I'll make my decision then.

EDIT: No Nintendo Revolution at E3?
