The great fund drive for new hardware!

My employer has graciously offered to host my server hardware, meaning that I can finally stop the leased server from Texas that we are currently running EG on.

Here is the catch, we are currently leasing the hardware for $75/month but the hardware isn't mine. So I plan on building one and the cost for that is $525 USD.

That means $75 a month, for 12 months (1 year) is $900 USD a year to keep this place up and running, most of which comes out of my pocket. Only a third is paid for by spurious donations and google adverts.

I'm hoping to re-coup my up-front costs on the new server with your generosity. Everyone will be thanked personally but listed as anonymous to the public.

Thank you all again for your support and hopefully we can move forward with a smooth transition and my wife and I can breath a little easier at not from not having to spend $75 a month.

The responce so far has been fantastic, more than I imagined.

We are not done yet, every little bit helps.

Dell 2650 2U Rackmount:

• Dual P4 1.8Ghz
  1Gig of ram (will be upgraded later to hopefully 4Gig)
  4x 18Gig SCSI 320U 15,000 RPM drives (faster than sata)
  PERC3 Raid Controller ( keeps things working if 1 or 2 drives fail)
  and other stuffs.

So yes, this is much better than what is hosting us now.

Thank you all again for your kind generosity, it has certainly helped! The server is here and I’m currently in the process of putting more ram into it and copying the data over. I’m hoping that we will soon have it up and online making the site even faster and more responsive than it is currently.

The server isn’t Evil_Genius’s but that of Mindwerks who gives us space as non-profit group. Your donations where not just for the server and continued EG hosting on Mindwerks, but a generous donation in helping out groups like Special Love who are also hosted by Mindwerks.

Special Love is a nonprofit organization that provides cancer families a network of support, made up of other patients and families who know and understand the trials and triumphs of the cancer experience.

Our very own Killfile has survived child-hood cancer and helps to maintain SL. Yes, they love the Berserk too. So again, we thank you all for helping not only EG out, but Mindwerks and everyone else who shares the server.
