Revolution was a nice name, i guess they dont feel their system will bring a revolution anymore...

might as well go play some real football...
Well at least they came up with a new name unlike Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Okay, I might be gay for saying that but at least I am gay for reasons other than my name...

While I have to say that the name shouldn't reflect on the actual console itself, I can't help but wonder why they changed it to Wii especially from a cool name like Revolution. Maybe it was hard to pronounce or say out loud, and Wii sounds better in Japanese or something. They prompted for something more syllable friendly and catchy, although in my opinion, they have failed.
I read on Gamespot on the rumour control that Revolution might have a name change, except it was proposed the name was 'Go!'. I argued with my brother how ridiculous that rumour was, especially changing a name that sounds that cool would be disasterous. Gah, I'd prefer it if they called it 'Go'. Goddamn syllable friendly crap.
Anybody know the real reason for this change? Or were the executives tired of not pronouncing properly or struggling to pronounce Revolution?

If it wasn't for that, this name would be as good as anything else. They give some good reasons for calling it Wii. The name is good as a standalone, but as soon as you put it in a sentence it sounds disastrous.Tempest wrote:Just imagine it:

People who buy the Wii will love it until they need to start shaking their Wii controler just to jump multiple times... then they will say "Damn I am tired of shaking my Wii; God my forearm hasent been this tired since I rented Broke back Mountain Staring Femto and Buz"

Thank you sir, may I have another
