Cingo.com: What psi29a and killfile have been working on.

Post by psi29a »

Hey guys,

We have finally launched our application which we have been working on for nearly 1.5 years. The entire application is written in PHP Fusebox with a couple of custom tweaks to make things run a little faster.

Cingo (rhymes with Bingo) is a "family friendly" web portal. It costs nothing to use and there are no advertisements (and we do have a business plan and we are making money). I'll be honest, most of the people here aren't our target audience, but right now I'd just like to get people on the site and get some constructive feedback. We've been in Beta since Sept 1 and we've gotten rid of the most obvious bugs, but there are still a few hanging around. We do want to know about them if you find them.

I know there are a good number of people here that aren't from the US. Our portal is really meant for US customers and requires a valid five-digit zipcode to register. If you're not from the US, use 23060 as the zipcode. That is Glen Allen, Virginia which is in the Richmond area where our company is based.

You can go here to create an account:

http://www.cingo.com/register/PS29A

And the obligatory blog is here: http://blog.cingo.com/

I would appreciate honest feedback. I've got a lot of myself invested in this project and while negative feedback hurts, at least it gives me an excuse to drown my sorrows in beer. Ummm, beer.

Thanks!!!

My strictly 4-letter alphabetical password contained an illegal character. Bypassed this by just using numbers.

You mind PM or IMing me the original 4-letter password? Feedback like this is great. thanks.

Bossman says that passwords should be 5 characters in length. Designer is fixing javascript to warn the user that password must be at least 5 in length.

edit: nvm, solved. :D

Password should be between 5 and 16 characters long, and we are now making the users more aware of that and produce better error messages.

I registered, but I don't have much time to mess around with it right now.

I do have to say though, that it looks very professional.

So k, someone (who will remain anonymous) has decided to 'fix' the username login, and then go grab lunch. So we are working on it right now. Trust me, someone will be shot.

Edit: not shot, castrated, and issue should be resolved.

Alrighty, Cingo.com is back up and kicking ass. We have been listed and rated by two places thus far that have given us kudos. Yay! :)

Huh? We are a non-popup site, unless you have spyware. :P

BTW, no user accounts can be created just yet... as we are waiting an agreement AP news contract to go active.

However, I'll keep an eye on your request though sandman. :P

The format looks real good and I like how much of what people use the Internet for is right there. You may also want to create a section for favorite websites and have logins for other emails, such as hotmail and yahoo.

Well, it has nice layout, it's actually truly uncluttered, and I suppose the services are useful.

I'll still never use, because it's pretty much for US citizens only.

*nods* it is US centric for a reason, however... should things turn out well, we can expand out beyond the US. Gotta start small.
