I want to ghost my C: (which my OS is on) to a new bigger partition on the same Hard Drive since i originally made the partition too small for my C:. I was reading about how when you ghost a drive, the new drive won't be recognized when you boot up because it has the same signature or something as the original drive. So I ghosted my C: onto a seperate drive to test if it would recognize the drive as a bootable device ... but it didn't ... though i was almost positive it would since some FAQ said it would.
So basically i need to know if there is a way to change the copied drives "signature" (forgot what the technical term was) to something other than the original partition's "signature". If there isn't then i need to know a different way to get the computer to be able to boot from the copied drive.
Update: I totally screwed up and am currently crying like a little girl.
I can't access anything on my HDD. All of the partitions are unreadable in Windows but i should be able to backup all of the files after i get a new HDD to put them all on using a recovery program that i have.
