...but unlike Thompson, this comes from Rockstar's vice president:

Hopefully this will show some of you what kind of people makes GTA and the rest of the Rockstar garbage, i.e. people that don't know shit about video games.
He's just crying cause people beat him at whatever video games he plays. he should stop crying and just go home and sit at his computer and play Civ II
Edit: wait, Civ II is probably too hard for him

So this is where all the whiney n00bs go when they get pwn3d at fighting games, they go make games they can actually win at. You know what Dan? This 19 year old idiot is neither a savant or has that good of hand-eye coordination, I just learned the fucking games. Want to get good at SF3? Learn to parry and super cancel and you are on the right path. Want to get good at CvS2? Learn how to use the grooves and good combos. Want to get good at Guilty Gear? Learn Roman Cancels and all the other stuff in there.
It's people like this that make me afraid for the future of good games, good fighting games specifically. They don't want to play because they don't know how. My best friend was like this for many years. He saw me an Ayanami playing SF3 or SC2 or something, and refused to learn because we didn't let him win every time he played us, and he didn't have the pacience to go learn the game and practice. He finally decided to try and learn SF3 since we played it almost every time we were all together, and has a pretty decent Dudley for someone who has just recently picked him up.
They should promote his ass for saying shit like that.
He's 100% right -- if you know how to run a public corporation.
The 15 year olds (idiot savants or otherwise) will buy his games because of their "cool" factor. 15 year olds, at least in America, live in a closed system of strictly enforced norms. We call it High School. This is not an audiance demographic you need to worry about pissing off as long as you have a good marketing team.
The older gamers, 18+ years old, find the 15 year olds and their ilk to be lothesome and contemptuous. The image most of them have of the younger gaming croud is that inevitable asshat who drops grenades at the spawn points of counterstrike and 1942. Making these people think that Rock Star agrees with them is a good marketing strategy.
Finally, there is the real target of that statement - the voters. By saying that Rockstar's games aren't targeted at 15 year olds (and doing so in a way that doesn't sound like Richard Nixon saying "I am not a crook") Rockstar distances themselves from the possible political consequences of the games they make.
So reconsider -- was that good move? I think so. It might take some heat off of Rockstar at a negligable cost in market share.

Clever as they may be, they're not scoring any points with the hardcore gamers.
EDIT: i.e. us. The poeple that count. Well, the people that count to the people who know us.

Nice sentence.
And yeah maybe it's a good strategy.
But to say every matured RPGamer is demeaning himself if he plays a fantasy character like elves (even though I hate gay elves ) is unmature garbage.
If you aren't allowed to have phantasy when you're an adult, our world will be doomed.
It's better to play games where you kill other people like those "pure evil gangstaz" in real life eh?

I couldn't care less if it's a good marketing strategy or whatever, people that say shit like this shouldn't be making video games.
Zelda >>>>>>>>>>>>> any Rockstar game, but I guess I shouldn't play it because it's demeaning to my integrity.
Give me a break. I'd feel offended if I actually cared about anything Rockstar's vice president said. Whoever feels embarrased by playing Zelda shouldn't be playing video games in the first place.
Interesting piece of news, didn't really know about this. I don't think this will stop me from purchasing or playing their games entirely, but I have to agree with what Killfile says, just some subtle messages in the passage that I find intruging too.
I felt embarrassed playing digimon world for the PS. I swear, I was bored and ran out of good RPGs, *I* certainly didn't like playing it or have watched the show in my life.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, that is the scrubiest shit I ever heard. Most people that are good at fighting games are 18 to 25 years or older because it takes skill and tactics. I have never seen an idiot 15 year old kid win at Evo or super battle opera.
