Go F*** Yourself Mr. Cheney!

Post by Killfile »

While touring Mississippi in the wake of Katrina, Vice President Cheney met with... shall we say... an indelicate response.

"Go f*** yourself Mr. Cheney" a disgruntled survivor shouts from off camera.

Cheney laughs it off, but there's a lot of angry people in Mississippi and Louisiana this week and those two states have supported the Bush Administration and the GOP religiously (no pun intended) for the last 16 years.

I wonder what impact Katrina will have on the politics of the region.

nothing much will change. people have to understand hurricanes are natural disasters, that means NOT man-made. nobody is to blame for hurricane katrina. people should stop finger pointing at who caused it because mother nature caused it.

People blame the government for their sluggish response on Kartina, where racism is thought to have played a key factor. I do agree the government has acted slower than it should, but I don't think that the government is to blame for every single thing.

there's a picture and i'll try to find it, where hundreds of buses are underwater that could have been used to haul people out of new orleans. however, those buses are under the control the state and local governments, which are run by bureaucracies that usually don't get things done.

I think that it´s not the who caused it what people are angry about.
It´s more like they are pissed of because of the preparation(if they did anything at all...) before Katrina, and now, that its gone how the government acts (help they are sending, etc)

But i agree with Eldo on the fact that you can´t blame the government for everything.

I find it endearing, the way he bothered to add the "Mr." and just not calling him "Cheney".

I also heard some gossip about the response to the whole disaster being so late was due to some fact that Lousiana is supporting the democracy or something. Don't know really. After all it's gossip.

Good stuff Killfile. My friend and I talk a lot about how the people's minds in New Orleans will be different towards the Bush administration. I hope that it opens the eyes of a lot of citizens.

And it's not that easy to say. Humans manipulate the world strongly, maybe such things would have never happened without humans.

The most interesting thing I heard was that after the hurricane had passed, the military was ordered to hold back. A few helicopters violated orders to go into New Orleans to pick up survivors. When they arrived it seems there was only one other helicopter rescuing survivors.

Another thing I heard/read was that Cuba managed to evacuate it's citizens before the storm arrived and suffered 0 casualties.

Just food for thought.

According to many scientist the hurricane is man made thanks the pollution which by the way the US stands for 25% of pollution in the world.

Hurricanes and alike are happens alot more often nowadays thanks to what the humans do to the planet. It can only gets worse, since not many cares about what they do to the planet.

hopefully it won't get as bad as we think

I sure hope that people with political and economical influence will realise now how important it is to turn to some alternate power sources

That's exactly what I'm hoping.
I think without humans all beings on earth would survive until the sun blows up, but if it continues like this it will be all over long before this happens.

Humans aren't powerful enough to actually end life on earth. We're a big influence, but if a rock about as big as a good sized mountain hitting us at several million feet per second didn't exterminate the planet, I don't see coal fired power plants doing it.

That said, we might create some very attractive ocean front property in Arkansas.

Life will go on. The Human species will go on. I just wouldn't invest in a beach house any time soon.
