I went to convention in Toronto today...

Post by Ellen »

Holy crap were there ever a lot of nerds there!

Waited in line for like 30 minutes just to get in. And there was this sort of retarded? volunteer that kept pushing us to different lines and we didn't understand a word he said. (At one point, we thought he was talking about a line for crack, so yeah)

There were like a ton of cosplayers, mostly naruto I noticed (I've never actually seen/read naruto stuff, but they're pretty easy to pick out). LIttle kids even dressed up. There were also many people that just... should not have been wearing what they were wearing *shudders*. Think celluite and basically no pants. Image
There was even this guy dressed up as the Listerine Action Hero!

It was an interesting experience to say the least. Saw the darkhorse versions, saw this really awesome Gatts 12" figure but it was $260. :(
I also saw this really awesome Predator bust, but it was $1100!!! The Alien Queen was selling for $1400 I can't believe the prices!

Those were most of highlights, but I'm sure more will come to me.

So ... what kind of experiences have you guys had at conventions?

Just to clarify, it was a comic, anime, manga, animation, geekfest convention (Kevin Sorbo, Elijah Wood, James Marsters, Alvin Lee etc were there)

I just want to say that barfing emoticon r0x0rz.

I haven't been in any major conventions because it's fucking Australia, nothing of interest to me around these parts and nothing worth going to.

If you do manage to get some pics of cosplayers, post them on this thread. It'll make a good laugh.

Your not really missing out on MUCH.... Especially with the cosplayers. *shudder*
I didn't end up taking any pictures. Just because..... well, I didn't think I'd want to see those people ever again.
Most of the cosplayers were Naruto, FFX and FF7... I saw a few Spike Spiegel's too.

Seriously, you don't want to see pictures of these people.
There was a really hot girl that dressed up as a cowboy? but her face was busted.

A lot of the cos players i saw at comicon were middle aged men. One of them was going all out. He was dressed as a zombie and was even limping and moaning hte whole day. And his costume looked really good. Must have taken him many hours to put the makeup on. Anyways i saw 2 fine ass girls, one of em i got a pic with but its on my friends fone. The other was dressed as chung li. I saw her for a second told my friend about her looked back and she was gone... damn.

LOL... nice one Tempest

We need pics, otherwise this thread might become boring soon. I don't remember where I got these from, but I have some Tenjou Tenge cosplay pics in my computer. They look ok... If you have nice ones, post and make the rest happy

Maya Natsume, nice sword and pose & gotta love the antennas

The Maya chick is hawt, bt I don't like the antennas. It doesn't look like hair, like it should. It just looks like some exaggerated deely-boppers.

The swords look really cool. :). And cosplay fails miserably most of the time. But these were quite good.

Image

this guy could have just been a soldier, but he took it a step futher called himself a "metal gear" soldier. props man..

Image

The ass that gives hope to the idea of cosplay... that is all that needs to be said.

Image

the ass that ruins cosplay forever... sadly, ive met the guy before, in the whole get up and crap, not a pretty site, so revert back the cammy ass pic.

I tend to avoid conventions in Toronto since anyone who lives here knows how crazy it is. Thank God that man faye is never in Toronto.

This is from Fanime 2005.

The guy has his own martial arts show Kwoon, which is comdey/action. Its got some good stuff, but his interviews on cosplayers is just great.

I've seen that YTMND and while it was funny, it made me cry inside as an FFVI fan. What made me cry ever more is the guy doing Sabin, who is pretty much my favorite character from VI. The least he could do is cover up his moobs. :?

The Metal Gear Solid Soldier gets the thumbs up from me, what whould have been bettter was if him and the box guy were together or saw each other.

BTW: Halfnhalf, is there like an entire pic set of the Cammy chick or just that shot? That ass just calls to me, as I'm sure it does every other male who sees it.
