...and those things are freakin' huge! It's awesome beyond words. I'll post pics when I get my digital camera to work.

I feel like I have a larger penis for some reason.

I was just wondering about you Ayanami, you did seem to get lost for a while there.

My first two games were Last Blade 1 & 2 and future games I MUST own are Garou, Metal Slug 3, Real Bout 2, KOF '99 and KOF '00. I few more will definitely get added down the road, but I'm trying to avoid impulse purchases and am concentrating solely on finding these 5 games at a decent price.

And I don't even have the console yet. Image

Two excellent choices my friend. My friend has a Neo, but he has a lot of old school stuff. Right now I have been too broke to get any thing I really wanted. Radiant Silvergun has been the game I wanted to get for a while, but it just cost too damn much money for me right now. Also wanted to get me a japanese PS2 and Dodonpachi Doyoujou (I have no idea if that is how you spell it or not.) and ESP Galuda, but once again money is tight. I am uber pissed that I could not fund a trip to EVO this year, and I have been sick as of late. A lot of other shit has been going down but any who... glad to be back, time to try and catch up on stuff.

Nice choices Femto. Last Blade is quite the awesome series. I personally would try and get as many Metal Slugs as possible right out the gate, but with Metal Slug 1 going for something ridiculous like $1,000 a cartridge, I guess gettign just MS3 would be acceptable.

I too have been away for a while, what with work/home improvement issues (My AC went out for like a week) and the fact that Guild Wars rules my life and any free time I had hoped to get.

And the Buzkashi wannabe comes out of hiding as well eh? :kekeke:

Any who, I believe Femto has a consoleized MVS, so he should be able to afford a copy of Metal Slug One for a reasonable price. I am not sure how much the MVS carts cost, but I know it is far less than the AES carts.

Then let the spam wars begin, but why don't you keep your damn spam to the "What are you Listening to?" Thread or anything in off the wall.

Yeah, the AES cartridges are the ones that are ridiculously expensive, MVS is the way to go if you're poor like me. Metal Slug MVS will set you back $40-50 tops.

PS: Welcome back Tempest.

That is not bad at all, my friend has an AES, that is why he has a bunch of old school stuff at the moment. Plus he is into that old school stuff. I want to get an AES sometime, but the price is right on the MVS I tell yeah what.

You can get a used consolized 2-slot for $200-300 if you search in the right places. I'm a stupid whore, so I ordered a brand new one which is a couple hundred more expensive. Going MVS, even if you purchase a brand new cMVS/Supergun, should be cheaper in the long run though, specially if there are many games you're after. Besides, once you have the UniBios in that thing, you'll be able to run the AES versions of the game too if you'd like training or survival for them.

PS: I'm negotiating Metal Slug 3, KOF '99 and '00 right now. Image

Hawt. :P

But any way, when I have the cash to start a Neo collection, I will definitely do some research and probably ask you a bunch of questions. And here is one now that I am thinking of it....

On a consoleized MVS, do you have to use the AES sticks?

You don't HAVE to, but yes, it has ports for AES style sticks. I think NeoCD controllers work too, but why wouldn't you want to get an arcade-like, neo-geo joystick?

There's also another option besides the consolized MVS if you want to play arcade games, the Supergun. A Supergun is composed of basically one part of the full consolized MVS setup, the RGB decoder. With a single Supergun you can use any arcade motherboard as long as they are JAMMA based, that includes the Atomiswave (not %100 sure), MVS, CPS2/3 and maybe Naomi too + a bunch of others I don't know/care about. I'm a bit fuzzy on the subject myself, but that's basically the idea behind it. It's way more convenient if you like arcade games in general and not just neo-geo.

The reason why I decided to go the CMVS route is because it's much more simplified. With a Supergun, you might have 2-4 arcade mobo's lying around and it might be a bit difficult to keep it orderly. A CMVS is basically a console, which means it's less 1337, but you can be sure as fuck that it'll be as close to a real MVS arcade cabinet as possible and that it'll be built to work specifically with the neo. I might buy a Supergun myself in the future, but I'll have to do some more research about it first. I was thinking of getting some Capcom fighters (3rd Strike, Vampire Savior, etc.), but those boards commit battery suicide after a few years. It's possible to revive them I believe, but it seems like too much of a hassle to me at this point.

Anyways, just throwing that out there for you.

EDIT: Quick eBay link of what a Supergun could look like: http://tinyurl.com/a6h5c
Keep in mind that these things are custom built (you can build them yourself if you have the funds/knowledge/time), so there are a million different ways these things can look like. The connector lying on top of the fourth picture is the JAMMA harness I believe, and that's what connects to your arcade mobo.

First off, how dare you assume I would use a controller on something like that.

Just kidding, but any way, the reason why I asked is that I am still not 100% used to the hori style square box layout the AES sticks use. It is very hard for me to play a fighting game to my full potential on that kind of set up. I am used to the Jamma set up force fed to us Americans. It is much easier for me to roll quater circle motions against the round layout of an American style stick. While for shooters I don't really care as much, but when it comes to a Neo, you best believe I am going to get a shit load of fighters for it as well as shooters.

I am not too fond of the super gun layout my self, I would much rather have a consolized MVS, so I was curious if any thing like that could be ghetto rigged.
