Pointless waste of time?
A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism, but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion.

Yeah, I wasted time reading this, so I just looked at the pretty pictures which took ages for me to load instead.
I do agree reading that is a pointless waste of time, though.

He did have some good points like thise one
"2. Give us a genre of game we've never seen before. Something that's not an FPS or an RPG or Madden NFL or...
Why isn't a there a spy game where we actually get to be a real spy rather than a hallway-roving kill machine? You know, where we actually have to talk to contacts and extract information and tap phones and piece together clues, a game full of exotic locales and deception and backstabbing and subplots? A game where a gun is used as often as a real spy would use it (that is, almost never)?
Where's the game where we're a castaway on a deserted island and the object of the game is to find food and clean water and build a shelter, a game where we can play for one month or six months, because whether or not we get rescued is randomized? Where every time we restart we get a different island with different wildlife and vegetation and water sources?
Where's the game where we play a salty Southern lawyer who has to piece together evidence to exonerate a black man falsely accused of murder, breaking down witnesses and spotting inconsistencies in testimony? "
Also about the heroine in most games looks lika a slut, i mean thats so cliche, not needed to sell a game.

Splinter Cell incorporates some of these ideas.
agreed about the slutty female look of game characters.

I liked the guys take on the video game industry and where its headed. And i do have to agree that inovation is something thats become quite rare in these our adult gaming years( well for me atleast). Im not saying that fps and rpg and the like should go away but making a game that doesnt folow the standard template of gaming would we received with fresh intousiasim. Just look at katamari damaci, ive never seen a game like that before in my life and its a hella fun game!

Splinter Cell is very boring cause you have all this gadgets but there isn't a situation you have to use them to get trough.raziel wrote:Libaax wrote:He did have some good points like thise one

You clear the game,by using your silent gun to take the the enemies.
Splinter Cell was a nice thought but sadly done very badly.

It is not that I have a hard on for consoles or any thing, and there are some gems in there, but over all it sounds like he thinks the game market is out to steal his soul. I did like his comment on how video game systems with the sole purpose of playing video games are now a thing of the past. God damn gimmicks.

i figured it out! consoles are for poor people!
you want good times? theres ALWAYS room for lan parties! ive been to one in my life time and it was the best time ive had with a pc... plus with the emulation scene at the point it is now all those gems you love so much can easily be played on your pc sooner or later
cant beat free online gaming with all those private servers out there too...
i dunno i just grew up with a pc and ive come to appreciate it more than console gaming... right now the only things i see that consoles have over pc gaming are the RPG's (FF and what not) and its more portable than a pc unless you got one of those small ass cases you can carry around like a mini cooler
no to mention dowloading EVERYTHING you want! its a loners tool for rakuen!
oh yea... they design every next gen game to be able to run on shitty ass computers too with the obvious redux in graphics quality... so if you dont mind console-style graphics its still good...even with out the account dump

I still like Baldur's Gate over Final Fantasy......just where the hell is Drizzit gone? I need him, last time he was in a game it was Demon Stone(great game).
I play more console games because truth be told, I'm poor. My PC doens't have the ram to not lag like a little bitch even though I have the graphics card to run around in DOOM 3.

Emulation is no where near as good as the actual thing. And as for LAN parties, I say meh, there are no games for the PC that I would want to move my PC to a friends house for. I don't think consoles are for the poor, you can dump a shit load of money because of the much more vast collection of games for consoles. I just don't like that I would have to dump a shit load of money in upgrades just to play one game. That game is Half Life 2, I want it very bad but my PC is just not powerful enough.

Doom 3 was boring, especially the MP.
Consoles are often better for fighters and so on because of the control. But they suck at shooters. A mouse is always better for that. And PCs are better for other things, too.
And if you know people that give you cheap prices upgrading is no problem.

so basicaly this becomes about pc vs console....again?
I personaly like both and have no bias against either i play my pc and my console games just as much. But certain genres i wont touch on the console, opting to play em on the pc instead, like fps's for example( actualy i think thats the only example
