I don't have time to sit down through 12 hours of a regular 26 episode anime nor will I put the effort into sitting down every night at a specific time to watch some cartoon I may end up hating. My television viewings are limited to whatever I happen to catch when I'm at home with the television on.

That's how I came to love Fosters, that's how I came to love Venture Bros. and that's how I came to love Justice League.

Later, after I decide whether a show is worth my money or not, I'll buy the DVD and watch the stuff in order at my own pace.

On the other hand, I watched but half an episode of the new Fantastic Four cartoon the other day and I know I'll never have to bother watching that piece of shit again.

Yeah, by not watching the whole series in order you lose the bigger picture but the only thing that could be affected by that is the storyline, you can still tell whether a show has crappy dialogue, crappy animation, cliched characters, bad pacing, etc, etc, etc.

Notice how I didn't say "crappy music" because that's very subjective whereas the rest of those things I mentioned aren't.

PS: LordMune is trained well, but still has a long way to go.

Perhaps, but the storyline is the most important part, IMO. That's what I think truly makes anime great, and I feel that you're cheating yourself out of that experience...but that's okay, I'm not going to give you a hard time about it. *shrugs*

All about characters, for me. Plot can be substandard or indecipherable as long as the characters are interesting and work well together. There's nothing more sluggish than generic identities or half-thought out personalities, regardless of the quality of animation or the unique concept behind the story. I mean, the characters are the cogs, the story is the tread - it is imperative for incredible stories to have outstanding characters who have dynamic relationships with the plot and with each other.

Anime is the best for that. Ah, actually, manga is... but, anime being an extension of manga and all.

Me too its all about the characters.

A story can be horrid but if the characters are intresting or cool etc i will watch it.

For example Yakitate Japan,School Rumble the plots are silly as hell but characters are wonderful. How can you not adore Harime and Kawachi "NANYATE" ;)

Everything is important.

A show with the greatest storyline ever is not neccesarily better than one with an average storyline if the other elements in it happen to be terrible.

All the elements are important, but if you have multiple good elements, most people are willign to overlook one or two mediocre or even substandard elements.

One piece is Ugly to look at. That's the only point I've found against it.

The characters are superb and well developed, the storyline is awesome, the fight scene are interesting and entertaining, the dialogue is well written. With all that, I can overlook the painful art.

Hahaha, I figure there are only two and a half elements... one being characters, the other being story, the remaining half being animation quality (it's kind of unfair judging an anime's worth by animation quality, unless you're judging it's worth due to it's animation quality, eg. "I don't like this, but it looks great!")

For me its like this.

1 characters

2 story

3 originality

4 animation,music

If a series has one of those things that are good enough i will watch it.

For example One Piece i adore for the characters and the originality, i mean pirates with crazy powers is something you dont see often.

Naruto only cause of the music, animation when i watched it. The character that i liked almost never appeared, Jiraya,Rock Lee,Shino etc

Hajime No Ippo,FMA,Cowboy Bebop are the only animes i think that have all four points in a very good way. Which is why they are the animes i like most.
