Upon hearing about how awesome it it from you guys, I decided to start reading Annihilation. I really like the story where I am, but I have to say I'm not too fond of the guy who drew the Anihilation Prologue (Past Thanos's intro) and Ronan (Jorge Lucas). IMHO He draws like a twelve year old. It gets better as Ronan goes in, but in the Prologue Nova looks positviely horrible.

"I have destroyed a LOT. That takes focus and self-control. So yes."
"But you're not, per se, a 'Destroyer'?"
"Perish the thought."

Oh Drax, you cad.

As for Ronin,
Bendis wrote:Once Echo is done in Japan, there will be no need for her to be Ronin anymore. The suit – the identity – will have served its purpose. There will be another person in the Marvel Universe without a theme… without a motivation … or who may have lost their desire to wear the costume they were wearing, and this person will don the costume as the masterless samurai of the Marvel Universe for the time to come...It’s someone with a long history in the Marvel Universe. There are quite a few people it could be, and it’s not necessarily the person you immediately go to, but it’s someone I have an affection for who also has a history of donning a guise that best suits his or her mental tone. And this is his or her mental tone right now. And it just so happens there is a costume that needs filling and a person who can fill it, and so it’s taken.
At first the whole "Losing ther desire for their costume" I immediately thought of Steve Rogers, but I doubt even Bendis would be that transparent. A number of people (Read: "Nerds") I've talked to think it's going to be Rick Jones, which makes sense because he's not the first person you'd think of, but it's not some 3rd rate superhero that was an Avenger for all of two weeks. I think Bendis is going to try and make it so that when everything pans out the reader is supposed to slap his forehead and go "Oh yeah, why didn't I think of him/her." But personaly, I think it's going to backfire and instead of people saying "Oh God Bendis, you're like the fucking Hitchcock of comics!" people are going to say, "I read through X issues for that? Oh God Bendis, you're such a tool."

I'm a bit confused with the status of the Negative Zone. Annihilus and his creatures were of the Negative Zone. The Annihilation Wave happened during Civil War. So when the villains and other super powered beings were imprisoned in the Negative Zone, wouldn't they run across some of the natives there, like Annihilus' cronies?

If I understand correctly, the Negative Zone is like another universe, so it's pretty huge. It's concievable that the place where Reed placed the prison (Which I assume can't be bigger than a planet) that is outside of Annihilus's immediate control.

Anihillus was in 616's Universe at the time of the prison. Or so I was meant to believe.

I wasn't aware that the Negative Zone was like another universe (in terms of size, I thought it was like a country), but thought it was a bit strange how the Super Skrull met with Annihilus' cronies while in the Negative Zone, accessed via Richards' machine, yet the Registered heroes didn't run into any of the cronies when they were making the prison.

I guess one was traveling North and the other was traveling South.

It was lines like that made the event awesome, i adored Drax after that line.

Was sad to see he doesnt have a big role in the next Annhilation.

The event minis and the main mini has very good art much better than early stuff.

So, I just read 300 in preparation for the movie.

Linework?

FM writing was very good and wasnt all that much dialouge, he let the pictures do the most work and where there were lines they were awesome.

I know jack shit about proper comic book terms. I meant the lines which combined with splashes of color make a colored drawing.

Aha :)

Yeah the color art is amazing.

Which one of the reasons the movie looks impressing, they seem to have captured the style very good.

FM and Lynn Varley his colorist has done some amazing work together, for example his DKR,Ronin etc

I just read New Avengers 28 recently. Some spoilers below.

All was going great until...well, they showed up at Silver Samurai's place. I refuse to believe that Logan didn't inform the team about Silver Samurai hating his guts for, oh, I don't know, chopping his freaking hand off. I felt that it was a poorly explained plot device to get the team to that location to set up the next big fight there.

Mighty Avengers is pretty good too. I haven't really seen much use of thought bubbles at all for any comic recently. They were used very well.

Also, Geoff Johns has said that the DC universe will head towards the Kingdom Come direction. This is most apparent in the JSA story that he's currently writing, with two characters that looks like they originated from the Kingdom Come universe, with Wildcat's son and Starman. Anybody think this is a bad idea? While I did enjoy Kingdom Come, I can't say that I want the DC universe to head this direction though.

I did liked the idea when i read kingdom Come only cause of seeing the old heroes but the story it self werent that good and DCU will become alot worse if they head that direction.

Its already enough with countdown,WWIII and all the crap.

Man i just want thing to get back to "normal", reading my comics without having to worry i must read an event otherwise i miss out.

Funny how DC and Marvel changes places, an event over at MU, bang a new one starts in DC.

Haha, i quit reading Marvel after 'age of apocalypse' when Wolverine had his adamentium ripped out by Magneto.

Everything else that happened I have no clue, for me that was the end of cross-overs for me and Marvel comics in general.

I stick to Heavy Metal for the time being.

That's around the time I quit as well. Well, nearly the time. It was a bit after that, after the whole Onslaught piece of crap, and I picked up bits and pieces of it after that Prime Sentinel and that Bastion guy. Yeah, it was crap. I have a whole bunch of Onslaught crossovers in my garage right now, stuffed in boxes.

I only picked up comics recently with House of M, because I wanted to see how Marvel Universe fucked itself up. And I thought the art was gorgeous. But yeah, it lead to me reading comics again. I read comics pretty regularly now when I find the time.

Girls is almost finished. Two more issues and the story ends. Issue 22 was good and as usual, ended in a way that I'm annoyed not being able to read the next issue right now.

Cross-posting from the super secret mod forum to say that I've bought the first and second volumes of BIOMEGA. And you should too. Don't be little bitches, support Tsutomu Nihei.

I guess this is off-topic but hey. 8)
