Change of venue, the forums are moving.

Post by psi29a »

Since most of you wouldn't be here if it wasn't for EG it is fair to say that we need a new logo and we can re-arrange a few sections of the forums.

The new address will be http://www.evil-genius.us/forums , and the current address will give a 5 second message and redirect.

The reason for me doing this is that I want to separate EG and Mindwerks and move Mindwerks into a different direction. EG & it's forum will still be hosted by me on Mindwerks, and I'll still be around 8) .

The only drastic change is the URL (address).

Of course, if you all have questions, concerns to general comments... have at it. :P

Obviously, this means we 'chat room' above will reflect the EG's channel on irchighway. Because of that, we won't be able to list people who are online either because irchighway provide the same tools as blitzed.

For the chat room, just create an EG channel on blitz. Problem with irchighway is that a lot of people are there with the same registered nicks and the sort.

We can go either way. Doesn't matter to me. :D

Mindwerks was going into a related vein, but more commercial. Nothing is set in stone, but eventually Mindwerks will either be a LLC or a S Corp. It isn't any big secret that I like putting minds to werk. 8)

PS: no, it isn't translation for hire. But perhaps the end result will be more people with knowledge of foreign languages.

Everything works amoothly in IE, no problems, works as it used to.

But not so with Firefox. Can't log in automatically like with IE, and doesn't display the new posts. I'm sure it's something stupid. Any ideas?

http://www.evil-genius.us/forums don't forget the www, that is important.

The cookie to allow auto-sign-in requires the domain http://www.evil-genius.us , evil-genius.us will just laugh at you.

It's working now.

FPr some reason, my bookmark was right with the www. But once I hit login, www would be gone. I didn't notice before.

So the login seems to work now. Now if somebody could post some crap to check that new posts also show up, that would be great.

That shit happened to me, I didn't know there was a big difference with or without the www. Is there any way to redirect the web address without the 'www.' into the one with 'www.'? That would be most convenient, but if it involves alot of work, don't worry about it, I don't know jack shit about technical stuff.

Since it is Firefox, it's probably just a matter of clearing the cookies/cache for most people. Happens whenever a DnD forum I post on updates to a new version of BBCode or whatever.

Possibly so, when I experienced this problem I whined to psi, and I cleared my cookies upon his instruction, and the same problem occurred. But however, when I added the 'www.' in, it worked perfectly fine. I didn't even know there was a difference between the two. You can try it out without the 'www.', it's incredibly strange, at least to me.

I've modified apache configuration so that when you enter in 'evil-genius.us/forums' it will redirect your browser (firefox/ie) to 'www.evil-genius.us/forums' and everything should be right as rain. So even if your bookmarks are fucked up, this should solve the problem regardless.

Yes, this coddling the end-user, but hey... not like you guys are paid to be here anyway right? :P
