I tried to show my father the wonders of FireFox compared to IE6. He just could not switch over, with in about a 4 days I had to uninstall FireFox.

Any who, I am going to try and find out more about ACID2 on me own. Sorry to bug you guys with all teh n00b questions about 1337ness. As for now, I like my IE7, not to sound like a M$ whore, but I think it is a good browser.

IE7 i am using right now. It looks like it has become more Firefox like.

I have always used Firefox but IE7 bete works fine me for now until there is a new firefox. I wont pay for IE7 never, just trying it out.

I must say it looks much better than IEs before it.

I'm kind of illiterate when it comes to this, but isn't the point of Firefox to avoid all kind of virus designed for IE?

In this regard, isn't it better to use Firefox anyway?

Yeah but that doesnt really matter cause i have an antivirus and windows defender.

The reason i went from EI before to Firefox was the pop up thing which EI of old wasnt good with.

I have tryed IE7, which is now a security up date at Microsoft, and I think it is good but I like the extentions and themes and password manager for Fire Fox, plus they are going to make it better with 2.0 so IE is out of luck... althought the mini windowed browers in kinda cool

This thread is a tad on the old side eh.

Any who, I don't even use IE 7 any more.

I use Opera. Opera owns both IE and Fire Fox.

Performance and speed mostly.

Opera is the fastest browser out there. I believe Psi posted something about it in some browser thread. Any who, Firefox is real nice if you like tinkering with it. Installing add ons and what not. Opera is good out of the box. Which is what I prefer. I don't like tinkering with my browsers.

I also like the template Opera uses, functional and sexy looking.

But aren't a lot of sites not compatible with opera?

also alot of ie's us market share comes from aol's browser.. though aol owns netscape and has access to the gecko engine.. they continue to use trident based solution (the i.e. engine)... most of the people who use aol are the "everyman" who knows little of computers and regards them as these mystical creatures that must be continually appeased with new software expenditures in order to keep the "evil" malware demons at bay... were aol to shift to a gecko based engine for it's internal browser.. ie would immediately lose about 13 million people stateside... thats a bit of a chunk... additionallly by forcing the web designers to conform to non compliant code that ie supports... it is not only a move to maintain market control but to change the standard... i tried ie7... it's a big dissappointment... it's pretty in the microsoft way... .net through and through, nasty visual basic everywhere, and the horrible widget set microsoft has forced on us... fuck i.e. and opera for that matter too (but i have other reasons for opera hating)

Firefox here, because opera doesn't natively run on Linux nor has Google Sync.

With google's firefox extension (google sync), it doesn't matter what computer I'm on, or what OS (Irix, Linux, Windows, MacOSX, etc), I know that Firefox will run on it and importantly enough, google sync so all my saved forms, passwords, bookmarks, layout, designs, themes... and more migrate with me.

I don't see myself being persuaded to goto Opera or IE7 till they can run on many OSes and have (or even a plugin) to sync all my settings/bookmarks/more to all the computers, from work, to class/uni, to home, to traveling with laptop.

Firefox Extension:

The single most important plugin you will ever need. Think of it as backup tool, even if you only use one computer. Windows crashes, no problem... restart and FF is up and running with all the tabs opened to the right page before the big hit.
