I'm still using Firefox 1.0.4. I have no plans to upgrade.

Since my computer has little memory, and my current version usually takes up 30000-65000K, I'm not too fond of upgrading it, if the newer version takes up more usage than that. If it has a better performance and takes up less resources (the latter being more important), then I'll jump for it, but I haven't heard anything like that yet.

That's the reason why I mentioned Firefox and the version I have. Still not going to download the upgrade.

I Opera for a bit and liked it, however I noticed that it's memory usage is consistant with firefox. I've run it on WindowsXP, WinXP64, under Wine on Linux and the memory footprint is the same from 5 tabs up to 4 windows and 50 tabs each.

IE is in the same boat, but you hardly see the real impact becaues it offloads some of it's resources t more mundan processes so you don't see the real impact of memory usage as it is so tied into the OS.

I've never once had any problems with firefox blowing up, I wonder what exactly happened.

Also, a great exention is google's browser sync, keeps my browser settings, bookmarks, saved forms etc saved accross many computers. Much better than delicious or other would be syncers, best of all it is all encrypted and stored away for ya.

http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/browsersync/

Enjoy, best plugin i have in firefox right now.

I backup my bookmarks every so often, since i once had a weird problem where Firefox deleted half of my bookmarks. Just go to Organize Bookmarks, and Export the file to a safe place. If you lose your bookmarks again, you can simply Import them from the backup.
