The latest and greatest of Japanese Animation. Found something new, or perhaps old and arcane... if it has to do with anime, it goes right here.

i have watched tons of anime and currently working on Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. It is a wierd anime and you think its for kids at first but with in the first 2 minutes including the Opeing theme, as a person going crazy bashing a girls head in the floor with a baseball batt.

Serial experiment Lain + Elven Lied = Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

that is all i have to say.
Good combination. 17 eps out so far
Having given up my past for my future, I seek only possibilities.

Angel Heart 19. I only watch this now out of habit.

Nighthead Genesis 1. This seems like an interesting new show. The first ep is quite promising. It's a supernatural ability anime, with a possible dark future. There are two brothers, one is a psychokinetic, the other a mind reader. There is also a glimpse of a girl who is precognitive and a seer.

Animation and sound and character designs are all very good. Ep 1 is out by shinsen.

I guys since I just got a new ISP I have been looking all over the place for Direct Download Sites, and I have found the best one... http://www.narutofob.com For a monthly donation to the site of five dollars you can have access to tons of anime. Now I have been watching blood+ and Naruto non stop for the last couple of days now... Blood+ is a little slow so I only have watched 12 episodes and I am up to episode 31 in Naruto. Both anime are picking up some good steam, need to keep watching :)

Paying for fansubs is ridiculous. Especially when you can get them for free as they were meant to be obtained.

Well, directs are pretty hard to come by for anime. However, if you have the bandwidth to use a direct download, I'm quite sure SOME torrent program will work for you. Piping torrents through port 21 or 22 DOES work. My university has a very strict firewall, but you can download from torrent sites. However, they also do monitor for torrent traffic, so I'm not doing it, I have my home connection for that. The only other thing that could happen is that your ISP blocks ALL TCP and UDP traffic, which would suck totall balls. In that case, hey, switching your ISP might be a good idea.

Well everyone has his own way to download. It's nothing we should care about anyways.

Night Head Genesis 2. A little over-dramatized.

Tokko 13, that marks the end of season 1. You'd think that anime companies knew better than to make rushed endings for 13 episode seasons, but they STILL do. This was definitely one of the worst eps of the show. Hopefully they gained enough funding to go on, the next season might be good again.

Night Head 3. This one was better, even though there is still drama, it wasn't quite as over the top as in the second ep. It's really one of those shows where there are no normal people, or so it seems.

Hmm, the end of Tokko was 100% second season cliffhanger, so I'm still hoping.

Got Night Head Genesis 3 and started Flag. Flag is a strange show that uses a lot of "camera" perspectives, and has mostly reaslistic animation style. They also waste a lot of time showing off their mecha, rather pointlessly, well, it's the first ep, maybe it'll be good, maybe it won't.

GaoGaiGar Final

Man, it sure is pretty, and brings lots of intensity. Great follow up OVA to the anime.

I'm finally watching Hajime no Ippo. Awesome series. I can even watch it with my fiance.

Speaking of which, are there any good series out there that don't involve over-the-top action (ie: Mecha, ninjas, etc)? I'm always on the look-out for anime outside of my usual action fix that I can watch with the lady. I've been slowly weening her into anime over the last 4 years. So far she's really liked all of the Miyazaki films I've shown her, Beck, and Grave of Fireflies. Macross Plus was a no-go :?

Am I missing any other gems? I don't think she's quite ready for Berserk (one day though :D )

I would personally recommend Kurau Phantom Memory, Mushishi, Kino's Travel and then The Melancholy of Harushi Suzumiya if you're looking for a top notch story and a splendid art.

Innocent Venus 1. Realistic mecha and cybersoldier action in the style of GITS, with an even darker setting. This show looks promising, I'd recommend you guys take a look at it.

azumanga diaoh will definately seal her anime fate. the comical cuteness and lovable characters will win her over.
last exile is an excellent blend of story, characters and art.

@BigS.: 12 Kingdoms, even though it's incomplete.

Watched up to ep. 4 of Innocent Venus. There are some flaws, but overall this is a good show. Anyone into mecha or GITS should take a look.

Slayers (the first series of this): Watching 1-5 the first episode had a left a good impression on me, and thats hard to do with only watching one episode.
