Err so we're pretty much saying the same, Henry on the left aisle. Problem is, after 98 and after he exploded with Arsenal, he didn't want to go back there. I don't know what's his stanse recently though, if he would be willing to go back left.Libaax wrote:The coach in 98 was clever which was why Henry scored three goals from the wing and thats where he should play now and Trez up top, i mean Malouda and co are shit compared to Henry.
If you are the world greatest striker the team must be adapted to you and not some old timer like Zidane which is why Brazil will run all over France.
THe coach takes decision. And everybody was saying that Jacquet was the worst coach evar during his tenure. That was, of course, before the 98 victory run, after which he became a genius. So criticizing a coach when the team is out is safe, but if the team is still running it's asking for a beating.
And DD, the saying -in France at least- is actually "Soccer is a game where 2 teams of 11 players play again each other and where Germany always win at the end".

I don't remember, 4 years ago Italy lost to Korea right, 1/8 or 1/4? And 8 years ago they lost it against us in 1/4 final during PK. Are you refering to a final 12 or 16 years ago for a loss to Brazil? I don't remember those 2 much, we didn't qualified
. WE should have won in 1986, I know that much, but I don't remember the final except we housted Brazil in 1/4 final. ZOMG, a sign!! Anyway it's not like you lost the WC because of us during the finals.
But it's true that Italy lost a European Cup Final in 2002 against us in last minute goals (I was in NY in an Italian coffeeshop. THey were all wearing jerseys and all. I sneaked in an quickly out!)

Not really... everyone fakes, horribly. It's a plague on all teams, all matches... no matter what. Something seriously needs to be done about it. The NHL has penalties for diving... start giving out yellow cards for faking, as it's called. Bet it stops in a big hurry.panasonic wrote:agreed that everyone fakes, but the argentinians just play dirty and fake like crazy all the time
That's one thing I hate about soccer(football). EVERY game you see a player dive to the ground after barely being touched, and then act outraged to the ref when nothing called after they've writhed on the floor in anguish.
It's ruining the sport. It makes it seem like soccer's played by nothing but whiners and cry babies.

The problem with the italians is that they can create many opportunities but they hardly finish it off or get one chance and then score.Libaax wrote:Heh i was rooting for Italy earlier cause of my hero Totti who saved your ass against the aussies.
But with thier level of play teams like Portugal,Brazil,Argentina will beat them.

Lets just hope the judge won't suck in their gameLibaax wrote:Argentina are the best team and who plays like a team with clear roles.
I wanted them to win the cup.
Germany has shot 76 shots and Argentina has only shot 37 but still have scored most goals in the cup so far which shows you dont have to shoot like crazy to score ala Lampard

Yeah it became 1-1 and germans won on penalties.
I cant believe argentina lost a game they dominated totaly.
The coach kills them with his horrids subs and defensiv tactics just before the goal.
I hate how germans play shit and still win a game they were dominated by sheer luck. They had on shot at goal and scored.
I dont care who wins now that Argentina is out, just that the Germans dont win.

If Argentina had actually used more of their skill and less of their mastery of falling down pretending injury, I would have been more sympathetic to them. Germany was pinned down until Argentina subbed out Riquelme and Germany put in Odonkor. Then the tides changed comepletely. Also, the German goal was much prettier than the Agentina one. Come on, a double airborne pass finished off with a header right into the left side near the post? Such pwnage.
Props also go out to the German goalie, Lehmann, who not only blocked two of Argentinas PK shots, but also even dived in the correct direction for all the other shots too. That man has strong instincts, which carried them over to win and make Argentina lose their first World Cup PK showdown.
Also, Argentinians don't know how to lose, crying like babies after the match. In the end, it was more appropriate that Germany won, not only as the host, but also by their conduct and fair play

haha thats a funny but true statement.Wandering_Mystic wrote:If Argentina had actually used more of their skill and less of their mastery of falling down pretending injury...
its like every fall is followed by a fake injury these days. everyone knows the players are faking it but they do it anyway on a chance that the ref is stupid.

The diffrence was those legendary teams had great players that played great football and won cause of it. They didnt win games due to luck or that other teams mistakes.Albator wrote:You could say that it is a typical Germany victory. If you think of WC history, this define the Germans teams in general. Not pretty, not showy, but lethal, efficient. And they win at the end.
Oh well that should give us a classic Italy-Germany. I don't know how pretty that game will be though...
Thier strengt was that they worked away the opponent, while that cant be said about this team.
