I saw Flightplan earlier and it was good and bad.

It has some exciting moment but also a couple of predictable ones.

An okay movie.

Okay, so I just recently watched V for Vendetta, and holy crap was that movie freaking awesome or what!? Although, I have some questions, that maybe some of you that have read the comic can answer.

**Spoiler**

Okay, so V doesn't have any eyes, right? If so, how does he see? What kind of experimenting were they doing on him, and did it give him any kind of super human abilities? Did he have any connection to Evy, or was he just some random guy. Is the comic still running, and if not, did he die at the end? Thanks for the help. Feel free to PM me the answers if you want.

i glanced through the series. its a limited series and it lasts 12 issues i think.
v the movie is to v the comic what LOTR the movie is to LOTR the book. the movie tells the complete story but left out a lot of other characters and plots.

as to whether evey is related to v or not, i did a some research after i saw the movie and it turns out no one will ever know cos alan moore said he will never tell. the answer to your questions is the same: he left it up to the reader/viewer to conclude.

Starnum, if I'm not mistaken he has eyes. His flesh is just burned. And most people come to think that V is Evey's brother.
EDIT: And yeah, V for Vendetta was easily the best movie I watched in years...

V does have eyes, his flesh was just burned from the fire he set or from the experiments. It might be noted that everyone who had undergone those experiments are deformed in some way. It was not sure what kind of experiments were performed, but we can relate it to what the human experiments that the nazis had, exposure to chemicals, etc. I think they mentioned in the movie that they tested his immune system and his human limitations. V healed rather quickly and rapidly from the treatments, so he possessed some sort of healing factor. The movie said that the experiments gave him some degree of superhuman strength, while the comic didn't go into depth on that. I don't think V had the degree of superhuman speed or strength in the comic, he was just really skilled in fighting.

It was not revealed who V was in the movie or the book, but Evey thought that V was her father. Evey decided to honour V's memory by leaving his mask as is, and became the next V in the comic. I would have wanted to see Evey have some conflicts rather or not to remove V's mask and her fear of who it would reveal in the movie, but you could only fit so much.

The comic is about 12 issues, and each issue had about 30-40 pages. The comics ended over a decade ago. And yes, V did die in the comic, and Evey succeeded him as the next V.

Yeah hopefully this will clear up some of your questions Star:

*Spoilers*

As far as the audience is told in the comic and the movie, V was simply a dissident picked up during England's purging. He a test subject and was one of I think 6 people who survived longer than a week. Yes he has eyes, and his conncetion to Evy is simply that he saved her life as far as we know. (In the movie she was simply going to a party of some sort, in the comic she tried to solicite herself for money to an undercover agent of the goverment, a "Fingerman") V himself dies at the end of both the movie and the comic, but in the comic Evy takes up the mantle of V and brings an unconcious young man to the "Shadow Gallery" much like she was brought in by the first V.

*End Spoliers*

Oh, and as far as relativley new movies are concerned, do yourself a favor and go see "Thank You For Smoking".

Daedelus and I went with some friends to see the One-night-only viewing of the uncut version of "Boondock Saints" but it was full and decided one a whim to go see TYFS (We know at least a dozen other people in the theater went under the same circumstances) And from what we heard, we didn't miss much from Saints, but Thank You For Smoking was awesome. Funny, insightful, just great.

*EDIT* Damnit Eldo, you are super-quick

Yo yo !!!!!

Make spoiler marks there are people who havent read V for Vendetta.

I would go crazy of this if i hadn't read this book a month ago.

I thought answering spoilers would automatically make my entire post full of spoilers so therefore it was logical to assume that my post would answer spoilers with spoilers without the need for spoiler tags. Sorry if it ruined anything for anyone.

Still you check the newest post and if the newest is your spoiler post then it ruins for people that wanted to read V.

You make a spoiler tag just in case like Tempest.

Edit: Its no problem i hope people see that its a spolier post.

Lucky number Slevin- Was an okey movie but you guessed fairly easy what the plot line was about.

And I did understand that Eldos post was a spoiler post

i saw TYFS and i really liked it. the humor was just really fun.

so i saw tokyo drift tonight.
my thoughts are very scattered, and while i think it really is more of a rant, i thought it my opinion belongs here.

*WARNING: spoilers/whack rant start here*

so han, (sung kang) who is by far the most fine guy in the movie DIES!!!! OH!! THE PAIN!! that whole scene was fun to watch, and even though i knew he'd prob. die (years of anime taught me that the character you like most, will most likely die) but it was PAIN!!!

the whole deal with him being called han again is really great. for those of you who dont know, han is the word for korean people in korean, so the korean guy being named han is like a pun. they did in better luck tomorrow, which i love. of course, its the same director, so its not too surprising.

back to the movie; i thought i was going to have a stroke because of the all the crazy editing that went on it make it "action packed". the main guy was okay, but nobody, and i mean nobody looked like they were in high school in the movie. seeing the main guy in the japanese uniform was great though. but, wouldn't the school put him in a foreign exchange class? most school in japan have separate classes for the foreign/american students, am i right?

i thought it was interesting how they glorified japan. in many american movies, japan is depicted as a this kind of odd bizarro world, that is more weird than anything. (take "mr. baseball" for an example) in tokyo drift, it showed how stylish and crazy japan is these days. though the real drivers in the japanese subculture might be pissed now that they're passion is exploited...still, i though it was actually a good movie. the cast seemed pretty good. not to mention the other guy who was in better luck tomorrow was in this as well. the girl was...well her jaw was really really wide. i couldn't stop staring at it. her personality seemed okay, but weak. not my style. the crazy takeshi guy was just like.. always mad and creepy. classic japanese "the boyfriend" kind of name i thought. and his uncle the yakuza made me laugh so much. the whole yakuza gang was just so classic. bow wow...what can i say, he's much better in this than in roll bounce, possibly one of the worst movies i ever saw. i have to say i did kind of enjoy him getting beat up, even if he is easy on the eyes.

*end of spoilers*

so all in all, i think its worth seeing. it was kind of like one big music video. fun to watch.

Agreed...on both counts lol. Ren & Stimpy was great...So was Invader Zim. Both were genius, but I despise Nick' to the 'pain' for cancelling Zim. Grrr!! I don't see how the fuck you ask Jhonen Vasquez, known for JTHM, which is chock full of vulgarity, violence, gore, etc, to make a kid's cartoon *boggles*. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they did, but to ask him to do it, then bitch about it being 'over the head' of most children, because it had more of an adult audience, is ridiculous lol. But oh well, all the good stuff is doomed to a fate of reruns anyway you cut it.

Personally, I'm still waiting for more word on Kung Fu Hustle 2. Originally they were saying it was slated for a late 2006-early 2007 release, but now it's anyone's guess, since apparently, Stephen Chow has decided to put it on hold to work on another project (something sci-fi i think it was?). Guess I'll have to learn to have a bit more patience  Pirates will be fun & maybe Superman will be somewhat entertaining. I know some of you aren't very hopeful, ultimately I don't tend to be either when it comes to comics gone movies, buuuuut after all the al;askdkasl;kd time they took to get it done & Kevin Spacey as Lex :PLUS1: ...It has to at LEAST be interesting.

Someone mentioned "Night Watch" waaaaay back around the start of the thread. Loved it. The second chapter "Day Watch", is pretty good too. Not sure when "Third Watch" will be out. But for those that haven't seen either, they're worth tracking down.

So you've decided to grace us with your presence again eh?

Oh and that was probably me who was talking about Nightwatch. Meh, it was an OK movie. It seemed to me like they rushed through it to much. I guess I might check out the Day Watch.

Something new to me was that there was a movie inbetween Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. An animated movie called Dark Fury. Now thats something I wanna check out.

I watched Night Watch just the other night. I thought it was okay, had some cool special effects, it did seem a bit rushed, also it was kind of confusing. Could have just been the subs I had though. Worth seeing, wont buy it though.

I saw Tokyo Drift as well. It was a lot better than I expected, definitely the best Fast and the Furious movie(which really wasnt hard to do). The mustang with the coffee can muffler and big rims was ridiculous. And drifting muscle cars? come on, they are called muscle cars and not sports cars for a reason. The CG was noticable, but not over the top. The lead guys accent bugged me sometimes, but Bow Wows part wasn't as big as I dreaded. Overall, I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to any car fan. Oh, and Keiichi Tsuchiya's cameo was a nice touch.

I saw Freedomland yesterday. The beginning was nice, I expected a good plot and a nice climax but damn, the more the movie lasted, the more it began to suck. The acting was good, but the rest was bs. Really average movie 6/10.
