Poor showing by England today on Sweden. Their heads were probably pretty screwed up after Owen went down with only 4 minutes played, and I really hope he'll be prime for the round of 16. They might get away from that game, but Ecuador scares me a bit.
I mean, they got these old cows on the field which participated in the world cup of 1998. Zidane has nothing left, accept it! They should put in Trezeguet more in the game, he could make a huge difference.
Anyway at this point, we are screwed whoever play. We might go up to the 1/4 finals with a bit of luck, but that will be as far as we go if they don't play at a higher level.
I wouldn't underestimate this team though, Zidane's suspension might become the trigger, defense is solid and we potentialy have one of the deadliest offense of the tournament (Wiltord-Henry-Trezeguet and Zidane behind is no joke, if only Henry accepted to go back in the left corridor). I'll be able to tell more once we play the Togo game. However, Togo is no Spain.
That's the team I missed commenting about, France. Zidane's suspension might just be a good thing. All the balls have been channeled to him. His suspension might actually bring out the real talent of the other players.
Spain. I recognise that they are one of the teams along with Argentina that is playing the silkiest football around. I think they were lucky because I find their first 2 goals in the tournament was kinda fluky. That gave the young team the confidence to play. Even if Raul is off form, I'll keep him around.

Sorry Femto, you ladies are going down
You will really need Owen, Crouch cant hold against good teams.
Actually, Australia would have done better, if the goalkeeper wasn't so shit.
Can't believe he let the second goal in.

Italy is one of my favorite team in this tournament cause they have the best defence(but I prefer Suede and Argentina);
the chances for Australia to win are really slim.

Suede? Sweden?
Chances not slim if they play as they did vs Brazil.
Well we (France) advance for now, but I fear we will be just an appetizer for the Spanish, unless they mess up (they often do though at this point of the competition).
Decent showing, solid defense, but as previously we get some nice offense going, miss a lot of opportunities, score the goals we need anyway but then refuse to play. We look more and more like the Italians. It's good when you win, but it's poor showing if you score early. It looks like we don't like to play.
Unfortunately you might be right. And on top of it Spain seems superior overall. But hey, considering how the national team sucked the last years, I'm not going to be picky when they show a decent prestation for an official game.
However it's a similar scenario than in 1998, ZZ got benched for 2 games and came back on fire. Granted, he was 8 years younger . And look at Vieira today, he won us the game with his offensive support. One of the good points of soccer, upsets happend pretty often.

He wasnt only 8 years younger he was also 8 times better than he is now

Whats wrong with Sweden and Holland??
Playing like crap in my opinion. Well must be because I like them very much and was a long-time Larsson fan. Anyway I expected more attractive football from both but got nothing special.
