Unlikely that someone will post some great information about Firefox, but I guess I'll leave it open. Don't anyone necro this thread after it's dead saying crap like 'ya i use firefox', because nobody really cares at that point. 'So does another million people that uses Firefox, what makes you so special?'

Well, i was just making a joke about the early build of Firefox 2 (Bon Echo) cuz i wanted to talk about it.

I like how it comes with a spell checker built into it. I didn't know about the spell check extension since i never really looked through the extensions that thoroughly. Anyway, it spell checks as I type and puts a red squiggly line under words I have misspelled or that are not in it's database, which is very useful.

They also added larger close buttons on the tabs which i don't care for since i just middle click on a tab to get rid of it.

Any link you click on either opens in the same window or instantly opens a new tab (if it's a link that's set to open in a new window). As of right now, I'm not sure if i like or dislike that. Before, if i wanted to open up a window in a new tab, I'd just middle click on it. If i wanted a whole new window, I'd usually just left click on it since the most of the pages i want in a new window are automatically set to open in a new window. I guess I'll have to get used this and start Shift + left clicking for new windows.

my opinion of ff has been shattered but i still find it the most functional of all browsers.
now that i am hooked on certain extensions, its impossible for me to revert to other browsers unless they have the same exact or better features.

Don't bother with Opera 8.xx, go straight for beta 2 of Opera9, it is pretty snazzy.

Problem with Opera9 is that our site Cingo renders great in Firefox1.5+ and IE6.0+ but with Opera (8 and 9) the javascript handling is piss poor (eats up CPU time on mouse events) and doesn't like CSS2 with negative aboslute positions (like tucking divs under a image or other div).

It may be ACID2 complient, but it does fail our tests. We are looking into it to see if there are hacks that will make Opera 9 at least play nice with Cingo.

I've used a bunch of different browsers.. the cold start time on FF annoyed me greatly and I usually just booted up IE instead. Opera is my current browser and I <3 the speed - the addons for Firefox were great, but in a practical sense overall speed is much more important than an addon which will see infrequent use. My connection downloads at 6000 kbps, so its nice to have a broswer that can actually keep up with it.

anyways, fyi... as mentioned middle-clicking on a tab will close it. try middle-clicking on the empty space on the tab bar and it will re-open the closed tab! you can do this multiple times to bring back all your previously closed tabs. it only works in the same session though.
and i dunno if its built-in in ff or its my 'tab-mix plus' extension.
