this subculture is so fucking popular, I'm really not surprised. at least they tend not to horribly exploit it or anything. i think its funny though, ill be listing to some shit and all the suddenly hear an anime title or something. fucking funny is what it is.

You find it weird them watching anime because they are famous(I'm guessing not), or because they are black(well Jedi mind trick isn't...whom are great btw...and also yet another rapper who likes anime) and its not supposed to be their "thing"? Smells like a typical pre-judgement.
Its a big popular culture as someone already said. And its funny when normal people are so suprised when they hear celebs have various kind of hobbies(like we all do). Like me being suprised Dr Dre being a football fan, more precisely Liverpool fan.
