I remember Stars, it was pretty good, except that you butchered Masters Apprentices.
Shisho! Where ya been bro? :P
So busy lately… I still read these forums from time to time though. I just don't see anything to comment on most the time. Thinking of an original thread too is also pretty tough considering our history, and it's also limited to the number of chapters that have been released to date. The new chapters are ok, but nothing like particularly revealing or awesome has happened yet. It seems like it's in a progression stage more than in the deep involvement of a major conflict or plotline. Well, I could be wrong there, depends on where this skirmish to set sail ends up at.

I'm also a member of probably a dozen other boards I troll around when I'm online browsing for amusement. Boards that I must say have a vastly larger population of idiots to ridicule and provoke to no end. :D

It’s pretty hard to say something too when people are mostly in line and on topic, and the boards are moderated so well.

I would. I havent seen a n00b in forever. And we have like 4 mods for each section.

I see some people have downloaded the video.

I must say I didn't have the patience to watch all of it myself :), I find death-metal like this a little boring. (no offence meant to Starnum, heh, each to his own.)

sooo, how should I fix that?

Make it newb friendly, or lay off moderators, or what?

We'll fine the way we are I guess. We've eliminated the flamebaits through the Interstice. I mean, when was the last time we've locked a thread or moved it to elsewhere? I'm pretty lax when it comes to moderating, anyway. We've already made relevant threads for newbies to post in. I think the forums are moderated very well, where all the junk is filtered leaving only the relevant sections and posts.

The only thing I find troubling is the lack of activity in the Berserk forum. We've reached the point where we've discussed everything there is. Nobody asks questions because either it's been answered or they're scared flaming will ensue. It's probably the monthly wait for the chapters that I think is the cause of the inactivity. I'm fine with things the way they are currently, but if a change needs to be made, I'll endorse the action nevertheless.

Yeah make it newb friendly cause its fun when there is someone new to Berserk or other things and come with new passion even if he is a noob.

actually, I have a the 15 post limit on creation of threads/topics. Last time I removed that, it took I think 4 days for someone to create a new thread. Now, what I can do is get rid of the thread/topic creation protection and let the moderators do their job... or rather, let the people that want to reply, do... and those who think it is stupid, just not reply at all.

Thats a very good idea.

If the newb thread has been done before the mods can lock it if not let people choose if they will write in or not.

Alrighty, so I've set the topic creation limit, so those with no post count can create topics. This can have two outcomes, more people actually creating topics to talk about or people creating topics for things they can easily ask in the newbie threads.

I'm thinking that if people ask for volumes that are already released via DarkHorse or another publisher, then flaming is appropriate. If the question is just general nobbery, then those that want to flame can hold their tongue... till the newb crosses the line and becomes a dick (name calling, flag waving BS), then we move 'em to the Interstice.

People are cool with this perhaps?

More threads of the regulars i think would also make the forums better.

Im not talking about threads like the suicide thread.

It's really sad to see that some of us are, apparently, so desperate for new members and whatnot, that we're willing to open the doors to the kind of stupidity we witnessed in the forum's first months.

Yeah, there has been very little activity in the forums for the past few weeks (months?), but after a while you realize that you can't force discussion. It's true that we've exausted every possible topic in Berserk, but that's just testament of how active this place was before. There's no reason to force discussion there or in any other place for that matter.

I think guessing games have taken away from the rest of the forum as well. There are many members that do nothing but post in them and it ruins any initiative they might've had to post in other threads. I mean, why bother looking at other threads when guessing games are always easy to reply to? I mean, look at those threads. Guessing game is 6 pages already and, when it comes down to it, there's absolutely nothing salvageable in it, nothing funny, no discussion whatsoever, you're not reading about something you don't know, etc, etc, etc. Same goes for the rest of the guessing threads I bet.

But I guess people embrace it because it gets members to post which, of course, goes back to my first paragraph. It's sad to see that we allow such senseless drivel just because people don't post as much as they used to.

Bottom line is, all these rules and stuff that we've added over time have had a purpose and have been born from watching the forum for close to a year now. We added a limit to starting threads to prevent n00b threads from popping up all over Berserk. I don't think we should take a step back from that.

PS: I hope everyone noticed how conveniently and expertly I stuck in my dislike of guessing games in this thread.

I thought those guessing threads were good cause sometimes you could start talk about other things while you geuss something but now people only guess and leave.

I wont enter one of those threads again, cause honestly im sick of them when they are the only threads that are active.

Libaax has always been one of the sensible members here and I completely sympathize with him.

Seeing that there's a new post in Gaming only to find out that it's just another post in the guessing thread is completely annoying and utterly disappointing.

It's always the same people that keep beating the dead horse too. A lot of us have posted there, but most of us left soon after because, truth is, it gets old very quickly.

I fail the see the fun in them as well.

I agree. :P

I say bring back the thread creation post limit and set it to 25 posts. I think it's good to post in other threads first, because that'll give newbs time to learn how things work around here. I like how we run things, no need to give the n00bs any slack. Meh, but that's just my opinion.

By the way, no offense taken Brain. ;)
