Yep, he's taken #1, and the reason I like that is because it's a helluvalot more interesting than the yawn-fest the other storyline would be, mindless fucking fighting with no end in sight, and everyone super-powered goody-two-shoes with their suits... yaaawn.
I'm guessing we won't see anything from the people still in gantz, just follow kurono in his life for a week or two, maybe even a month.. then the shit will hit the fan and we get an update on the poor people still alive in gantz, and how a couple of bad guys have killed the good guys and are reviving the girls and are serially raping them, and it's partly kuronos fault for reviving the new guy.
That's the interesting part.. we have no idea what memories he gets to keep and what he doesn't.. it could be that the whole time from the trainstation gets wiped, and all this wonderful hero-development flushed down the toilet.. or it could be as you said, selective just to gantz and the people in it, and thus tae will be remembered, and her importance to him.
It's anyones' guess really.. but I guess the most relaxed part will be chosen, he'll remember tae and she'll remember him, and they'll have some form of normalcy..
Although a new dilemma, either him forgetting her or she forgetting him, or him not really remembering what he's doing with such a boring girl would be interesting.. it wouldn't really help the story settle down for a bit, while the others get mutilated by the vampires.
Of course, Tae could as well finally link kurono with all this bad crap happening, and just get rid of him, but that's unlikely as she did go to his rescue when the mission was to kill her.
I actually welcome the change of pace if it comes, cause the hacking/slashing was getting repetitive. It would have be fine though if the author did give us some background on the way about Gantz (uh...sketchy grammar here I believe). A pause in the action might give him the opportunuty to finally do it.
One can hope.
Something else I didn't really get: the "Aliens" of the beginning, do they actually belong to the so-called "vampires" or they are a totaly different species in Gantz?

Thats what I've wanted for the last 200+ chapters. I'm damn sure we aren't going to get it anytime soon.
I think we will get the story while Kurono is out of the action. The story about GANTZ and the vamps and then the hero makes a comeback to save thier asses.
what was said about choice in the Matrix?? Its an illusion created by those with power. He does have a choice, he can just continue on the path that he has been going down for the longest.
He doesn't have to have his memory erased he could choose later like that other dude decided to do. There are soo many scenarios that could play out cuz of this. And I don't see any explaination being one of them though I could be wrong. But this mangaka hasn't given any reason to believe otherwise.
Thats whats annoying he hasnt given us anything to believe in about the story. I wonder what Kaotu will do now, stay away and live with his brother or stay in GANTZ.

Bah hes just being intelligent. If he give his best warriors what they wanted and let them live happy he would be in deep shit for the battles.
Nothing wrong with being a bastard if its to save the world too.
