Got a free game for you all. Text based RPG, with a little strategy style game on the side. Really nice game, should give it a try. :P If you do, you can refer "{AoC} Pyro" (me) or "psi29a". (guess who that is)

note: minus the quotes.

Okay, I have a couple of questions. How do I change my hair color? How do I get weapons? Can you only fight other users with the battle option, or are there CPU to fight, and if so, how do you do that? Okay, that should do for now.

To change hair color, you need to go to the "avatar shop" and if your race has a hair color option then you can change it. Or make your own hair color in a image making program and send it in to one of the admins and they will put it in.

To get weapons you can eaither ask your clan if you belong in one, make your own with ores that you mine in the spacial field (takes a lot of money so suggest you wait tell later), or you can buy them from the "armory depot" for a set price or from the "market stand" to but from players. (often cheaper to buy from players at the market stand)

You can fight other players by clicking on "battle" in your menu bar. You can also go to "the happy bouver" and fight "the bot."

When fighting other players and winning, you get more endurance and exp. as well as the occasional gc. When fighting the bot, you get little exp. and money. (based on lvl) The bot also gets stronger every lvl.

Hope that helps.

This is a good help guide from a player in my clan.

Welcome to the wonderful world of NewAge. Let this guide help you building your character and showing you the way things work here to you.

Race
The first thing to do is choosing your race. The choices are human, vailon and xion. Humans are generally universal. Vailon are magik oriented and so gain spells and magik skill much faster that the other ones, but in battles they suffer a -10% power penalty. Xions on the other hand get a 10% bonus to power from being battle oriented. The choice of class is yours to make but the differences are as follow:
Cavaliers get bonus to power, monks get bonus to speed and thieves get bonus to agility, marksmen get a chance of instant hit, clerics get a 10x/a day healing spell and sorcerers get a bigger chance of casting spell successfully. The first four classes get to be upgraded at levels 8 and 13 where the bonus they get moves from 5% to 10% and from 10% to 15%. The other 2 classes get upgraded at level 10.

ORBS
If you didn't spend your ORBS already, you should have 5 of them. I strongly recommend adding all to your maximum endurance. Every action your character makes takes either 0.5 or 1 point of endurance. You can gain additional endurance from additional ORBS you receive at leveling up; you always receive 3. You can figure out the shooting range formula and so can make about 3 additional ORBS per week. The shooting range formula is a game secret and telling it to others will make the admins jail you. This applies for all game secrets, I will mention them later. The last possibility of gaining endurance if fighting other players. Each winning fight will give you additional 0.02 endurance, but you can lose -0.01 if you lose the fight. This can be maxed out at 35 for normal players and 40 for VIP's. I recommend getting this asap (as soon as possibleboth maximum endurance and VIP's ). You get your full endurance at full reset (20:00 NA time) and half endurance at half reset (10:00 NA time)

Money
There are multiple currencies in Newage. These are gc, pc, chips. You can only get chips for subscribing for offers, donating real cash to the game and weekly voting at TopWebGames (see sector5, voting sites). PC's are a currency that you can exchange for orbs at a rate of 20pc per orb. You can get them by wining battles (you get 5 pc at checkpoints like 50, 100, 200 and so on.) or by materializing them at the temple (will get to that later). PC's aren't really something for newbies so it's good to sell them to high level players either via personalized trades or on the open market. You can usually sell them at a price about 750gc per PC but the prices seems to vary (go up). Gc are the most important and use currency in NA but make sure it's always in your bank account, because if someone beats you with gc at hand they take a part of that money. You can get gc by selling oil, crops, gas, iron and uranium ore at the market, getting from people you beat that had gc at hand, battling the happy bouvier robot (will get to that soon), or spending endurance points either at the employment office or tom's job area on balon (will get to that soon). The employment office (sector5>downtown>employment office) takes into consideration your level and stats (stats I don't know to how far) when calculating how much gc you get per endurance used. The tom's job area at balon takes into consideration your level and it's always better than the employment office. If you want to make gc's the best way is to spend your daily endurance at the temple worshiping. With a maximum of 35 endurance, you get to use 52.5 endurance a day (full and half reset) and these can be spend to make 105 worship points. The ammount of worship points required for materialzation varies according to your level, it tends to go down, but you can make much more gc's form this than both using tom and emplyment office for the first aprox. 6-8 levels. You can also ask the clan to give you a loan of any currency and if you're nice to them you might get it. Note that this affects you clan debt (blue is positive and red is negative) and usually only people who have donated something to the clan get loans. Also, if your debt is negative, you can't leave the clan.

Grogs
Also worth mentioning is training grogs. The number of grogs you can have at once is your level * 3. You will first need 1kgc to buy a grog license, they cost 400gc to catch using a staff or 500gc when you breed them. Train speed exclusively, this is the fastest way. Grogs max out at a value of 2000gc which you get when a stat reaches about 100, which takes about 19-20 days of training. Wild grogs cost 400, so that's a 1600 profit per grog, and breed grogs cost 500, so that's a 1500 profit. The benefit to breed grogs is time, but you can't breed any grogs you want, there are only allowed combinations. They max out 2-3 days before a wild caught grog, as well as you save time, breeding is faster then hunting. Remember, grogs use no endurance, so this is a 'free' source of income. As you can see this is a very good way to supplement your income with a little work and patience. Cought grogs take 19/20 days to train (max effectivity/income)and breed grogs take 16 days to train to max value.

Training
You train your stats at the gym. You need to do a fight in order to be let inside. Whether you win or lose doesn't matter. It is good to get your stats to at least 20 each in the beginning. For description of each stat see the game help section) The training formula is a gamesecret. Preferably insert the number of repeats and go for the result. Training once and then repeating the train is no good unless you want to set the new minimum value each time, as this increases according to your stat. You can also use ORBS to increase your stats. The amount an ORBS gives you depends on the current value, but can't exceed 17, this happens when the stat reaches about 650, I recommend saving your orbs till you get the full benefit of it.. ORBS can also increase your maximum hp's, depending on your level, but higher stats are much more important than high hp. You don't have to be alive to train. There are more-less 4 types of players. Those that go for agility and concentration, those that focus on speed and those that have massive strength and those who have a well balanced character.
It is prefered to have about 100 networth per level

Leveling up
You level up each time you gather enough experience. You can battle other players where you get approximately exp equal to networth (a value that consists of stat points and health, NOT sum of them) of the other player. You can also fight the robot at the (sector5>commercial zone>happy bouver, but this only gets you a very small exp and gc and you don't train your weapon skill, nor get alliance points or worship points. Anyway you have to be alive to be able to fight the robot and the gc you get goes to your hand and that makes you an attractive target if you have enough. If you battle the robot anyway make sure you put the gc into the bank often enough. You can attack players of -5levels. That someone has a higher nw and hp than you doesn't mean they have to beat you. I once beat someone who had 250hp and 230nw, I had 110nw and 150 hp. When battling other players, use the battle>view all and then search by criteria. It is recommended to set levels about you level or less, hp status alive, change deity to 'is not' and choose your deity (you get a deity point for defeating a player with a different deity and lose one if you defeat a player of your deity), in clan choose either 'not in my clan' or 'not in a clan', alliance is important only to the degree that when you have more than 200 or less than -200, you can enter a secret base in sector 5 (pick the opposite of what you want to be, rebels train more speed and upf train power more effectively) and if you want sort them (probably by gc, high to low)

Suitable equipment
You may want to have decent weapons and armor so go check what stuff you can use. You can either buy it, or forge it or get some from the clan armory. If your 0 days old, you can't buy any equipment. There are three weapon and armor types, and to the weapons corresponding skills. These increase with the use of that weapon and help increasing higher damage to the enemy. You can improve your equipment. Either upgrade it on Balon (this increases the weapon level requirement by 1) or temper it with temper stones, you can use both methods. In many cases it is better to wait till more powerful weapons/armor become available. If you just want a few points extra, temper it. Tempering costs 700gc per 1, up to 20, after that its 1400gc per 1. This comes from the price of the temper stones.

Pharmacy
A new addition to the world of NewAge. When you battle other players, you have a chance of finding a random ingredient on your enemy's corpse. You can mix these ingredients at (sector5>pharmacy) and can create various pills for character improvement. Some pills raise stats, others add on max hp or heal your hps.

Forging
Forging is also a way to make equipment, but you'll need a lot of iron and uranium ore which you usually get by mining at your outpost (will get to it). Forging may also prove unsuccessful, where you get a part of the ore you spend but don't get the item. Forged weapon are much more powerful that the standard one but you can't forge any item you want. The list of items you can forge depends on your forging skill, which increases with successful and unsuccessful attempts. Many clans have a single person, who forges for the whole clan and so has a wide variety of items to forge. Anyway you can sell the ores at the market for a higher price than the item you forge and since mining doesn't take endurance, you can back up a nice amount of gc's.

Bio Enhancers
Are quite costly (65k each). You can only have FOUR equipped at a time. And each time you buy one, you lose some max hp. At stats over 500, the B types become more effective.

Rings
You can have 4 rings equipped at a time. DON'T buy the gold ring, it's 5k gc wasted. Fire ring is great and the herb ring too. You'll probably then use the wind and ice ring, but the location of these two is a gamesecret so go search them yourself.

Outpost
When you have made at least 15k gc you might wanna start an outpost in the special field.
This is a field of 100x100 squares with planets in it.
There are four types of planet plus Balon which is special, it's coordinates are a gamesecret, but you can use the sector5>special field>field warp zone to get there.
To be able to get into special field, you'll need a spaceship, the shard costs 1k and is sufficient.
Find a planet that is preferably empty and unexplored, blue planets are universal and best, but make sure, you land on a distant enough planet in the space, go close the borders, at least 10 coords away, so that people who hunt for outposts to destroy don't usually go to the borders (unless they are hunting for you).
Even when you land on a planet and find it suitable, make sure you go away from the screen you landed on, preferably go to the lower right part of the map and build your command center there.
You will need ticks in order to build anything on the planet. You get 15 ticks per hour for regular players and 20 for vip's to a maximum of 400.
The first building you will have to build on a planet is a command center.

The price of buildings varies according to how many you already have, and honor.
Honor changes through outpost battling and depends on the military skill. If you destroy a unit of a player with higher military skill, you get positive honor and vice versa. Honor affects the price by this factor positive honor decreases the cost of buildings by 1gc per 20 honor and negative honor increases the cost of buildings by 1gc per 10 honor although these numbers may have changed.

You will probably want to make cash from your outpost so the best to choose is a mining outpost as it can be the most profitable.
You can only build mines on holes so start searching for them in your part of the planet.
Building multiple mining outposts does increase the amount you gain but only by a bit. Don't expect double yields with double buildings.
Be sure to build at least one or two auto turret in your outpost at strategic positions just in case, preferably near mines and groups of buildings.
When you have made some extra cash, build a factory somewhere as it allows you to build strategy centers. These increase the amount of exp you get from any outpost operations by 15 per 30 ticks and the effect is cumulative so 10 strategy centers can give you 150 exp per 30 ticks. A higher mining skill can have reasonable effect on the gains from mining, but the harvest/mining skills are capped at 50 so building 50 strategy centers would be wasting.

Place these on the edge of the map so that they don't take too much of the valuable place.
Build some more autoturrets at strategic positions around the outpost and/or near multiple buildings(have at least 5 of them at important positions) and use another function of the strategy center> fortify buildings for they increase the amount of damage a building can take. This is what this costs 700 hp, 6,250 gc, 70 iron, 15 uranium, 50 crops, 50 oil, 30 ticks.
An autoturret with 500hp and another one with 1200hp. That makes a difference, doesn't it? Apply multiple times if you want. And concentrate on the item you are gathering, be it oil, gas, crops or ores. Then either donate them to the clan for increase of positive clan debt, or sell them (not for ridiculous prices) or in case of ores keep forging weapons and armor.

So far this covers most of newbie questions. If you have some more, feel free to ask them, you will get an answer sooner or later (preferably sooner) and this guide may be updated, or go check the help section. Read and follow the rules because there are some nasty noobs in this game that make the experienced players dislike any newbie they find.

DON'T ASK FOR GAME SECRETS. You aren't gonna get them.
DON'T BEG FOR ITEMS. This only makes people dislike you more.
I hope you are gonna like this game and enjoy your time with the people here.

PS: Read the game lores. Aside of being entertaining, there's a little surprise to them.

NewAge update

Burst.net hosting killed NewAge! (10,000,000 HP left!)

Well guys, here's the news:
Burst.net says we got a virus and took down the server. Then, without my permission, they ran a scan that deleted all of my files. Basically, the entire drive got wiped. Yes, everything. All user accounts, all http barriers, security, everything.
The good news? I saved the member's SQL data about 10 seconds before they took it down. Yep, I got it, luckily. Unfortunately, the planet data is missing, but apparently I can send the hard drive to a data recovery specialist and hopefully get that file off of the HD.
All we needed though was the member data. And I have it :) So basically your VIP, your accounts, EVERYTHING is intact except for your planetary units, which, if I can't retrieve, everyone will of course get a full refund.

Once again, I am so sorry for this, it happened again, but we kept all your stuff, so NA will not be resetting or going into another age. Please stay with us!

Time until game is back up? I'd say about 2-5 days. Check back often for new updates.

Interesting, thanks for the update.

By the way, when it says you found something on someone's corpse, do you automatically get that? If so, where does it go?

*Wonders if his clan is ever going to hook him up with some weaponry*

Isn't it obvious who here plays this? It's pretty cool I guess. Seeing as how you can only play it for a certain amount of time each day, kind of, it's not too consuming. It’s just a nice little stop during your daily online activities.

Hot, I've noticed a few people who have my on their last killed list. I'm thinking that those people don't play anymore, and whoever used my ID last (32) was their original target. *shrugs* Oh well. Thanks though :P hopefully you left a message. *grin*
