Being that the Gaming forum consists of pretty much the same threads being bumped over and over, I figure I'd try to get some discussion in here about something I think people are torn on, PC vs. console gaming.
Let talk about prices, gameplay, power differences, convenience, etc, etc.
I'm a console man myself.
PS: I'm learning the art of multiple emoticon use.

Anyway, I'm 50/50 Console/PC. I get the best from both worlds, and no fanboyism- a PC is of course more expensive than a console, but it is more or less necessary in modern homes. PCs will always be harder, better, faster, stronger than consoles, as consoles are built out of modified PC parts/parts from known PC manufacturers. Architecturally, there are few differences. But, games that look crap on PC can look good on a TV, due to the fact that you're not as close to the screen as when playing it on PC, as well as the natural fuzziness/semi-AA the TV provides (Well, not plasma and LCD- they suck).
I'll never be able to play Zelda on a PC (well, I have, but Emulation > The Real Thing, to quote Femto), Halo will never work as well on PC as on Xbox, but old-fashioned point-and-click adventures, western RPGs, RTSes, and to a lesser extent FPSes will always be better on the PC.
If nothing else, the PC market is a whole lot more "alive" than the console market.
I'm going to say though....console is a hell of a lot cheaper than PC. Since you don't have to upgrade your "graphics card", processor, or ram every couple of months just to play most games.
In terms of power...PC owns.
Certain games also just work better on PC. Like MMORPGs and FPSes.
Convenience...console owns. Have a fun time luggin your PC around for a LAN party.
I guess in the long run I have a better time with consoles due to being able to have a beer and smack talk while playing with friends.
well, i like my rts games alot so the pc is a must have. By im also an rpg addict so the ps2 is great, however its power isnt that great. And if u want to save money and you're like me and dont really play online much, then newsgroups are your good friend

But there are whole lot more games for the PC, that's what I meant.
They are downloading games for consoles, too.
I've got both PC and consoles. Consoles are nice and good, some genres are better there. But there no better multimedia and gaming station than the good old PC. It's not only better for some genres it's also better to chat, work, find things etc.

It should not be any surprise that I think console gaming owns PC gaming.
There are far more titles worth having on console, and a far superior variety of genres to choose from.
Now I love my Half Life 2, it sure is pretty, but keeping up with PC games require too much money and effort just to play a small selection of games.
Besides, all the must have games are on console. Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG on SNES, Ico and Gradius V on PS2, Panzer Dragoon Orta on XBOX, and so on and so on.
I play games mostly on my PC, and I'm one of those emulation freaks that prefer all their games on PC rather than console. Reason? I don't own those consoles or I don't have games for that console, heh...
But I do prefer to play games on console. Like on my Xbox, better experience and atmosphere altogether.

I mostly play console, but when it comes to RTS and MMOs, its PC. Console gaming is much easier, you dont have to worry about system requirements and hard drive space. Just pop it in and play. Plus, playing sprawled out on the couch is a lot more comfortable than hunched over in front of my pc.

well, video cards can now be hooked up to your tv, so sprawling on your cough isnt really a problem nowadays for pc gaming, all u need is a wireless mouse and keyboard

I hear ya, I hear ya, but the thing is, as long as it is a keyboard and mouse you are going to get the hunch back action.
i used to be an all-out pc man, since i loved playing hot shooters and strategy games like warcraft 3, counterstrike, day of defeat, etc. but since i started college, i see that consoles are much more fun than PC when theres a group of headz in the same room
ya, i agree that mulitplayer games with friends is great on consoles, but its good on cs etc too. its just the kind of games u prefer. for mulitplayer sports games definitely consoles
