SC2 is teh r0xz0r. I haven't played it in sooo long. I think I'll practice some right now in fact. Gotta get ready for SC3 to come out in the fall. I cannot wait for that to come out.

They changed the name because they completely over hauled the fighting engine into a completely different beast. The only thing that really stayed the same was the characters.

Yeah we had that before. I mean it's the same Game Series, it's like changing the name of an Anime after some Episodes. I don't like it.

Well technically King of Fighters was just part of Fatal Fury until KOF 94, when they made it into a team competition and changed the gameplay and thus making a new game, splitting KOF and Fatal Fury from one another.

Yeah, it'd be like changing the name of DragonBall to "DragonBall Z" or something equally silly after a set amount of episodes.
Video games are quite different than anime, no? SoulCalibur is really a much different game than SoulBlade so the name change is fitting. Fighting games are all about the fighting engine, the story comes second.
