A WEST NYACK, N.Y. MAN was found dead at his computer apparently the victim of trying to keep up with too many professional forums. Childress H. Wanamaker, 54, an account executive at a New York-based new media company, died of starvation according to the West Nyack coroner's office. Wanamaker's emaciated body was found by Loraine, his wife of 26 years, who told MediaPost she had been bringing her husband meals on plastic trays for weeks, but that he never took the time to eat them.

"He was glued to his computer 24/7," she said tearfully. "He was so afraid he was going to miss an opportunity to contribute a comment or start a discussion, that he just stopped eating." She added that Wanamaker's last words were "OK Picard, stick that in your pipe and smoke it..."

Computer forensic specialists from SUNY at Cortland discovered that Wanamaker was subscribed to 48 different forums and networking communities including one apparently having to do with the elderly called "oldtimers" and another apparently limited to just 100 people. They also found that he posted a comment into one forum or another on an average of two per minute every hour of the day for the past seven weeks.

"He felt under terrible pressure to be part of the online community," said his son, Lucian, who says he tried several times to get his father's attention and lure him away from the computer. "The only time he even looked up was when I told him I had seen Dane Madsen trying to steal his car out of the driveway."

Police found what appeared to be an organization chart taped to the wall of Wanamaker's den with lines linking small photos of people unknown to the police including a Tom Hespos and an Adam Boettiger. Neither is considered a suspect in Wanamaker's death.

"Once, I thought I had him," said Lucian Wanamaker, "when I said that mom had made cookies, but half out of his chair, he just sat back down mumbling something about two Roman gods; I believe it was Jupiter and Atlas having some sort of titanic battle. 'Let them eat PIE,' he bellowed banging on his keyboard."

Computer forensic specialists reported that there was no order or continuity to Wanamaker's forum postings. "It looks like he just sort of randomly commented on whatever was in the discussion string at the time," said Stephen Hall, CUNY-Cortland adjunct professor of intemperate and impulsive behavior. "He let nothing go by unchallenged by his own point of view, nor failed to respond to any other community member asking for advice or a new job. This consumed not only 24 hours a day, but also, apparently, his physical health."

In what must be a record, Wanamaker was linked into to over 15,250 other community members, many of whom he exchanged notes with daily. He also contributed to 375 blogs and was expected to start an online column about the impact of interactive communications on health, when he died.

A virtual memorial service will be held online at a date to be determined.

He died due to lack of food because he was posting to much nonsense on all the forums he was on.

In Germany there was a guy with an office job. He was a workoholic and every day he was the first at work and the last to go.
One day when a cleaner came in, he found him dead. And he was dead for a few days and nobody noticed it because they thought he was working all that time.

You eat and keep yourself alive = you can still post a lot of years.
You stop eating to post = you will post only a couple of days more.
No matter how fast you post, in a lot of years you will do more posting than in a couple of days...

It's THAT easy!!! What is difficult for that guy to understand in this equation?
Well, actually, to be honest, it is just TOO much weird for me; sounds more like another one Urban Legend. Just thought about making a horror movie with a serial killer taking it upon Post Whores because they waste band

Sorry guys for the late response. I actually work now from 8-5 so I don't get a chance to post til later in the day, plus I have been doing things in the real world, and I still have time to kick Buz's ass.

Don't understand why this guy didn't eat. I live off of delivery food. Then the most I have to do is walk to the door. I mean how hard is that. You can eat and post.

Also psi, since Buz is a mod he needs a custom title, you shoudl give him post whore.

Just a stupid joke.Which is needed wen talking about a sad and crazy citaution like this topic is about,its quite baffling really.Not to blame his family or anything,but they should seriously have had their eyes on him,it takes alot of time to die of starvation.

It's a shame for that guy to die so useless. In the end he achieved nothing. He loved his computer more than his family. I have no respect for this guy. You know what, he was allready dead b4 he actually died. Think about it.

But It's true. Even if you are the king of the world (or the posters) and the best in everything, you need other people, friends. Or it'll still be a sad life. In the last time, I'm sitting nearly the whole day in front of the PC, but It's just because I got nothing other to do.

How about a link to a real news source for it?

I find it pretty hard to believe a weak willed individual (can't resist the urge to post) would have the will power to starve himself to death. Especially if food is being given to him. It's pretty hard to starve yourself to death willfully or out of neglect. Once you enter into starvation your begin to have organ failure and shutdown. Which of course includes your thinking organ, the brain. It shuts down to a very primative brain. One that probably wouldn't be able to operate a computer and only concerned with basic instincts - such as eating. This is why stranded people resort to cannibalism no matter their moral constraints. The cognitive mind shuts off at a point. He certainly had time to drink right? Cause he'd been dead sooner from dehydration.

while that is true you would be suprised how long a person can go without eating and still function normally. my dad fasted for aroudn 30 days and he functioned normally. albeit he did drink this half whitegrapefruit half V8 tomato juice mixture and was forced to have brothy soups towards the end, but still. though yea i find it a little hard to believe that he wouldnt move his hand 6 inches away from his keyboard or mouse to grab the sandwich (or w/e) to take a bite from it.
