The episode where the background story begins is 206 if Im remembering it correctly.
Just before its 2 episodes that has to be among the worst of fillers ever created for Bleach so watch out for those

Watched up to 204 yesterday. And after Inoue gets kidnapped again, and Ichigo jump to rescue her, we suddenly go back to school life with Lurichi or whatever Filler-Girls name was? And then 100 years in the past?
Is this stuff filler, or did a flashback happen in the manga too, at this time?
But I couldnt really understand how Aizen, Gin and everyone else in that bunch could rise to the ranks that they had.
Ok so soul society hasnt spoken to anyone that had been hollowfied since it all happened, that I can buy but through the story they have relied a few times Uruhara and he knew the truth.
The Japanese voice actor who voices Gatts, is the same seiyuu for Nnoitra in Bleach! Ugh! I like Gatts' seiyuu, but I hate Nnoitra. What a waste of a great voice.
Yeah, it sucks. I wish in anime series like this they'd just take breaks until they were ready to start the next section. I would actually prefer that over filler.
Even when the filler is good, there's still the shroud of everything that happens being meaningless. They should put the downtime into improving the quality of the cannon episodes (not that they're not good to begin with). The only time it becomes more than an annoyance however is when they alter the actual cannon material.
at risk of being burned at the steak multiple times, i've watched Bleach all the way through and my opinion of it is that Bleach and all its characters should just disappear, get lost in its ludicrous version of a nether world
i don't know who's worse, the guy with orange hair or the chick with THE WORST ANIME HAIR EVER
Anyway, on topic: Is the Hidden Zapaktou or whatever the latest filler arc was called already over and the action's back to Hueco Mundo, or are they still in filler land? I stopped watching around 230.
According to wikipedia there's like another 3 episodes to the current season. Hopefully they'll get back on track after that, but they're really not all that far of from where the manga is so who knows what they'll decide. I hope they don't let the manga get as far ahead as Naruto is.
