Currently Watching?

The latest and greatest of Japanese Animation. Found something new, or perhaps old and arcane... if it has to do with anime, it goes right here.

Just finished watching Noein, which I was rather pleased with. It's pretty well thought out and gripping. However, some of the quantum mechanics theories used went a bit over my head.

Now I'm getting ready to watch "Now & Then, Here & There" and "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time."

I have this must-watch-at-least-3-episodes-before-forming-an-opinion rule, so I forced myself to watch the first 3 episodes of 07-Ghost.
It is, without a doubt, a Blue Bishounen gheto http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... onenGhetto) of the worst class. Absolutely disgusting. The story was stereotypical, the art-style sucked (this is only my opinion, though) adn the characters were a bizarre combination of weak wimps, gentle wimps, cold wimps, and bad guys who, deep inside, were wimps. -1/10.
Stay away from this series.

ya it did have some heavy gay subtones between a few of the characters (i still enjoy it, but the manga was laid out better)

i found out that eden of the east is only going to be 11 episodes so next week is the last episode :\

Just started watching Excel Saga.

I don't think my lungs can take all this laughing. If this goes on, I am going to fu...ing die.
If I don't make it, please, someone, kill the creators of Naruto for me. It's the only thing I ask for.

Pretty much what I thought after watching the first 2 episodes too.

So I finished Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (hilarious endfight :D) and Eden of the East episode 10 was awesome, can't wait for the final one, hopefully it's not a complete cliffhanger until the movie comes in a few month...

Anyway, can someone recommend a good series, maybe in the vain of Code Geass, Monster, Eden of the East? At the time I'm rather fond of real-world anime, maybe with a touch of mystique. And of course I'm always open to good comedy like Zetsubou Sensei, Excel Saga or Tengen Toppa.

Have you seen Arjuna? You might like that one. Another real worlder, like current times, that's good is Perfect Blue, and a few of the Hiyazakis, but we all know that. Not so real world, and kind of older, is Sorcerer Hunters, but it's wicked funny, and the ending is amazing (good writing and all of that). And if you don't mind mecha Zone of the Enders is good because it's much more realistic, with the military and people and all that, than Gundam, and the main character is a 50 year old ex-military officer. Now how many animes can you name where the main character isn't a young adult? Hard isn't it?

I'm currently watching hbi2k's Escaflowne abridged. It's fucking hilarious. The last episode he included avatar, aladin, and clone high. I like it even better than berserk abridged. We need to make a page dedicated to the guy.

Haha, nice, I'm :pwned:

GANTZ IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!! I must thank hbi2k for that one as well. I love the twists and turns.
especially the random fucking scenes! the tall chick asks him what he needs, he says he needs to get laid, and the next scene they're just going at it against a wall! fucking amazing!
New Edit: Nevermind, it's just another fucked up existentialist story with no proper ending.

Hehe, yeah that was my reaction too. Bought the collectors edition after seeing 2-3 episodes on MTV, getting all hyped up throughout the series, and then a complete and utter shitty ending.

Manga plot is rather good though I heard.

So...who made that page for Berserk Abridged on TVTropes? Like just a random fan or something?

Just like any other wiki, multiple people made it. Even hbi2k made an edit to it once :D

Just watched the last episode of Eden of the East. WoW. Awesome. I was VERY anxious that the series would answer no questions about all the threads that came up over, but it does manage to do so, and it's a really cool twist. But while at the same time satisfiying it still managed to make me want to see the movie (28th november) right now.

Come on guys, if you're posting in an active thread, edit your posts, especially if it's on the same day, heh. Don't double-post, at least not too often or without good reason. Heh, thanks. -Star

Point taken. I have a (at least in my mind) good reason for double posting though. On every forum I am regularly active on I only ever click posts that have new posts in them, meaning the post has something in it I haven't read before. So I edit my posts if it is within a few minutes that I posted, or editing typos, and stuff like that. If I have something else to say that has nothing to do with the post before I usually post a new one, because I know I wouldn't read a thread that had an edited last post, which I have already read before the edit. If this board does flag edited posts as new though, my point vanishes. Don't think it does though :D

Might have just been a fit of egosim though.

Any idea if they plan on a second season after the movie?

Edit: also for the peoplet hat watch gantz the diffrences in the anime where pretty much the homeless killing guys inside the buddist temple and everything after the buddist temple. the buddist temple is really the point in the manga where the story gets really really good (until the new members join, lol martial artist, and psychics)
if you liked the gantz anime up to the buddist temple arc, seriously read the mangam it only gets better ( the only fault i find in the manga is it take like 2 or 3 volumes to really draw you in good)

Finished watching it too. Liked just about everything about it.
Too bad we'll have to wait so much for the movies to come out, but, since its very probable its gonna be worth waiting for, no worries from my part.

not yet, i think it might be getting close to the end but no telling really

Edit to avoid double post: Just finished watching "ghost hound" i was in the mood for something different and i really got that out of this one. What i got out of it was a mix of old religion (well Japanese religion anyway) meeting modern psychology with a bit of supernatural involved. it was defiantly a psychological series, and i enjoyed it, but i don't think it would be for everyone. anyway description of the series for anyone interested,

This world we live in, the "Apparent World" had another counterpart since long before the cyber age. From ancient times, people referred to it as the "Unseen World." Taro, Makoto and Masayuki are three junior high school boys who live in Suiten, a small town in a remote region of Northern Kyushu. Each one experienced a trauma in their childhood they could not erase. Because of this, or of other reasons, they all learned to traverse to the Unseen World, by slipping their souls. Ghosts dwelling in the Unseen World, did never manifest in the Apparent World. However, the Unseen World was going through an adverse change. And now, that change is starting to extend into the Apparent World...

I appreciate the edit, Papasith. ;P

Aether, it's all good, I just noticed the timestamps were on the same day so I was making an example of your post, so it was probably a little egoism on my part as well. :P

Anyway, I've started watching Gundam X, as it's one of the last few Gundam shows I've yet to watch. It seems decent so far, but I've only just watched the first five episodes. I heard it was better than Gundam Wing though, so I'm looking forward to watching it. After I finish this series, I'll only have a few more Gundam anime left and then I'll have seen them all! *maniacal laughter* *cough, cough* It's a nerdy goal, but it's one I take pride in. :P

Finally you're watching Gundam X! Yeah, I like it better than wing, its got better, more realistic characters, and it doesn't go excessively long. I've been conned into watching Suzuka personally.

Hm, I don't know that one I guess. Does it have giant robots in it? I just finished watching Char's Counterattack, which was pretty crazy, I can't believe it took me so long to finally watch it though.

Hahahahahaha, Suzuka is a romcom about a teenaged boy who looks after a girls dorm and falls for a high jumper girl,no sci fi to speak of. No, this is not Love Hina ... I think.

Yeah, I prolly wouldn't like it then. Romantic comedies don't interest me. *shrug*
