Re: Currently Watching?
Yeah, Code Geass is pretty awesome. I'm just now watching through Eureka Seven though, I know Aether watched that recently. It's pretty good too, I'm definitely enjoying it. Also, I've seen Basilisk, and it's nothing compared to Berserk. I think I liked it more than you did, I can understand your disappointment though. It's got some cool fights, but it's nothing special.

Re: Currently Watching?
Well if Haruhi commands it, what choice do I have? I watched the first episode of Afro Samurai yesterday but that only has 5 episodes anyway. After that I'll try to start Code Geass, still got the first 8 Episodes of it on the PS3Rolos wrote:PS: This may seem a little repetitive, but I have to say this AGAIN:
Aetherfukz, stop watching slice of life comedies and start with Code geass!!! Dude, you have no idea how awesome it is.
What you are doing is like choosing Gilmore girls over the Dark Knight and the Lord of the Rings combined!!
Yeah, School Rumble is fun (it actually is, especially the second season), but its nothing compared to Code Geass!
Dude, Haruhi commands it!!

The one thing that stopped me the most from ever starting it is its drawing style which I don't really like. But I also watched through Gilgamesh which has an aweful style too. But with so much hype around Code Geass I'll eventually come around to watch it soon.
But dude, Gilmore Girls? That's pretty harsh. They aren't even funny. I'd say they (the animes) are more akin to Scrubs (my favorite comedy series ever) :p

Re: Currently Watching?
Don't worry, the art of Code Geass will grow on you. I think it's pretty nice actually, though the character designs are a little skinny and angular. However, there's lots of chicks that I'm sure you'll be able to find appealing as well, heh. Besides, once it really gets going, it's a pretty interesting series.
Re: Currently Watching?
Code Geass rocks, its as simple as that
The only thing that I have to complain about is that the voice actor for Lelouch shouldnt try so hard to sound upperclass, its just sounds kinda... Gay

Yeah, I know what you mean. He has his moments where you can tell he's a great voice-actor, but I don't know why people praise his role as Lelouch. Personally it sounds as if he's forcing his voice most of the time, adding a deeper tone that obviously doesn't come naturally. His "normal" Lelouch voice sounds better than when he's trying to disguise it, maybe that's it, but I don't know.

Re: Currently Watching?
You talking about the english voice actor, are you? I'll be watching it in japanese with subtitles anyway.
Watched episodes 3 and 4 of Afro Samurai yesterday. It's funky but nothing special. I though Samual L. Jackson would be much cooler as a voice actor, but until now he said maybe 3 lines... and those were badly acted.
So I'll start with Code Geass today then

Re: Currently Watching?
Finished Afro Samurai yesterday. It was pretty meh. The fights were stylish as was the style (duh!) but the story was pretty much non existant.
And although I was tired yesterday night I watched the first 2 Code Geass episodes. What can I say? Very, very promising start, story seems really cool as does the setting. I still have the style the faces are drawn though. And I hope it won't devolve into an arms race about just who has the best Knightmare Frame, like it was in Gundam. But at least, I'm hooked onto it now
Can't comment on Lelouchs Seiyu, up till now he sounded pretty usual.

Re: Currently Watching?
Started watching Samurai Champloo....I don't know what to think about it yet....I mean, the animation is awesome, and the fighting scenes are really something, but I just cant stand how slow the plot, assuming there is any plot at all, evolves.
I also recently started watching Kyouran Kazoku Nikki. I liked it. Unlike many failed attempts at comedy, this one doesn't intend to make any sense from the very beginning, and the result is the most deliriously hilarious series I have ever watched (with the possible exception of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).
The way that Cat chick continuously declares to be omnipotent and omniscient while simultaneously doing the most ridiculous possible stuff makes me ROFL every time, but thats just me and my fondness for the absurd. Anyway, if you want to have a few long, healthy laughs, watch this series (or go read Angel Dengetsu).

Yeah there's a really nice story behind their journey which gets displayed a bit later in the series. The first ~half is more charakter exposition.Rolos wrote:Started watching Samurai Champloo....I don't know what to think about it yet....I mean, the animation is awesome, and the fighting scenes are really something, but I just cant stand how slow the plot, assuming there is any plot at all, evolves.
You've seen Excel Saga? That's also nonsense comedy to the extreme. Anyway, Kyouran Kazoku Nikki sounds like something I would enjoyRolos wrote: I also recently started watching Kyouran Kazoku Nikki. Re: Currently Watching?
Didn't I repeat like a fucking retard: "Go watch Code Geass, it is absolutely awesome!" And you were always like "Ok, may be later" And then I was again: "I am fucking telling you, watch Code Geass!!" And you always postponed it. Think about what you could have missed if it wasn't for Haruhi...
Heh, It feels awesome to be right about the awesomeness of something.

Been seeing Nabari No Ou, its an ok story in it.
The only thing that was a little disturbing in the beginning was that the main character was acting really really gay at times. Glad that stopped after some episodes.

Re: Currently Watching?
After the sheer awesomeness that was Code Geass, it's hard watching another anime
Anyway, I started with Monster a few days ago, watched the first 6 episodes, and am completely hooked. The story so far is really captivating, and I am looking forward to what will happen in the other 69 episodes, because right now it seems to be absolutely clear who the mass murderer is, only why he does it is open ended right now.

Re: Currently Watching?
Pretty good series but it has some lulls, IMO. I enjoyed it overall though.
Re: Currently Watching?
Monster started out as one of my favorite animes but it lost its way towards the end or even somewhere in the middle of it all.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I really enjoyed the beginning and I liked the ending, but there were some parts in the middle and the later half that were just really slow and boring, IMO. Still a good series, just maybe a little longer than it should've been.
Re: Currently Watching?
I havent read the manga so there is a possibility that in the middle they had a bunch of fillers that ruined the whole thing.
Am watching the Kenshin series now, its an ok series but dont think the greatness of it all has shown its face yet (Only seen 23 episodes)

Kenshin is one of my favorite animes. It really starts getting good once Saitoh shows up, and you're almost there.

Re: Currently Watching?
Ok Saito showed up and the story took of, really enjoying it now

Re: Currently Watching?
You shouldn't waist your time on the kenshin anime mate not as good as the manga. Well recently I've been watching cowboy bebop and I gotta say I like it. Please don't flame me I've never watched it before and whatnot so I decided to give it a go.
Re: Currently Watching?
Hells yeah! Fujin is right though, don't watch the anime after the Kyoto Arc (episode 62). After that it goes into filler land for the rest of the series. For the rest of the story and the true ending, read the manga.Loeviz wrote:Ok Saito showed up and the story took of, really enjoying it now

Why would we flame you? Cowboy Bebop is good stuff, though a little too episodic most of the time for my taste. You are getting a late start on a series that has been aired on Adult Swim like a million times though, heh. Maybe that's what you meant, but I won't flame you for that either. Everyone has at least one or two series that they come in late on.fujinsan wrote: Please don't flame me I've never watched it before and whatnot so I decided to give it a go.

Re: Currently Watching?
Are you serious? I started watching it recently and, by episode 20, he is so damn gay I am having trouble in continuing to watch it. Its not that I am against homosexuality or anything, but its just not my stuff. When he hugs Yoite tightly (which happens like, 9999999 times each fucking episode) I cant help it but feel uneasy.Loeviz wrote:Been seeing Nabari No Ou, its an ok story in it.

Watched Zegapain last week, and found it quite good. I especially liked all the existential questioning the character had to go through, and each time they quoted a famous philosopher I was like "This is awesome, I know what they are talking about and they are actually not just saying dumb shit thats sounds deep"

Re: Currently Watching?
Since I last updated I've gone through a few anime. Found a new favorite - Natsume Yuujinchou. Really enjoyed it 10/10. Finished D.Gray-man, ending is kind of disappointing.. probably going to check out the manga somewhere down the line. Hare+Guu - Finished the series and the Deluxe ova..haven't gotten around to watching the Final ova.
Anyways, now the only stuff I'm watching is Big O. I remember watching it on tv awhile ago but I never really got into it. I'm watching the eng dub and I have to say the "Big O, It's SHOWTIME!" is so dumb.
I've mostly been reading manga. Finished Sanctuary the other day and Samurai Executioner week ago or so.

The anime concluded? That's weird, the manga is still going. I'll have to catch up on the anime when I get a chance I guess.Tempz wrote:Finished D.Gray-man, ending is kind of disappointing.
Why is it dumb? The show references film making a lot, it's part of the theme.Tempz wrote:Anyways, now the only stuff I'm watching is Big O. I remember watching it on tv awhile ago but I never really got into it. I'm watching the eng dub and I have to say the "Big O, It's SHOWTIME!" is so dumb.

Yeah, if you've seen Inuyasha it pretty much ends the same way.Starnum wrote:The anime concluded? That's weird, the manga is still going. I'll have to catch up on the anime when I get a chance I guess.
hmm..I haven't noticed any other reference to fim making yet. I'm only up to episode 8. But yeah, I'm reminded more of batman than anything else. He even has the hook shooter thing and used it to stop himself from falling off a building.Starnum wrote:Why is it dumb? The show references film making a lot, it's part of the theme.
