Without a doubt Samurai Champloo.

It has a great catchy opening song and a beatiful ending song... its problably the only anime songs i like... oh yeah and Gantz opening song is also great.

The Ghost in the Shell osts are awesome, anything done by Yoko Kanno is great. The opening song of Gantz is done by Rip Slyme and it's a great song.

The first things to come to mind are Berserk, Naruto, Bleach, and the Kenshin OAV's. I did like how they added some good rock to the DBZ movies though.

Out of all the "top ten whatever" that have been going around here, this is probably the toughest one to answer. Berserk is definately up there, except for the awful opening and ending in engrish. Cowboy Bebop is also excellent, but I think that the music works only within the context of the series. It's not something that you can just listen to while working for example, except for a few tracks of course. Akira works more or less the same way.

Those are the best ones I can think of right now.

cowboy beebop,hellsing (at least the intro) and ghost in the shell are probably my favourites... but there are a lot mentioned up there than i've never heard
