And now that he's in custody, the PR nightmare can begin. Easily able to blend in among 25,000 undergraduates (thousands of which were new to the campus, about to begin their first day of classes), he shut down the entire university and forced the evacuation of students, staff, and faculty from a va...

Re: Republican turned Democrate throws down the gauntlet...
Holy shit, some democrats are growing backbones. Turn up the heat mon! At the risk of again falling into the realm of paranoia, my gut feeling is that Webb knows that he's going to lose and is thus doing his best to damage Allen's credibility for the 2008 Presidential election. That being said, it'...

Admittedly, it appears they're stating the a given homosexual person might/would not be homosexual if they were born as the first child, but I'm not seeing them state that it's nurture or give weight to that idea. You might be right...it's very possible that I'm paranoid. I'd like to think that thi...

The worst part of this whole thing? This 'research' came from MSU (my school). It's embarrassing. I'd be willing to bet for every homosexual younger brother you find that has many biological older brothers, you'll find the oldest brother being homosexual in another family. Sorry, just don't buy it....

With all the liberalness going around... you'd think this forum wouldn't have nearly so many debates... Despite the fact that many of us score in the same quadrent, I venture a guess that we reasoned through the questions and came to our responses in very different ways (I find this especially like...

I was trying to make myself like Hitlerish or George W Bush as much as possible, outlawing all homosexuals, people should earn their pay, corporations, be hard core religious, and a total racist. Look at the score it gave: Economic Left/Right: 5.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 7.74 Did you cho...

Killfile is a damn thief.*** But that's okay. I used this as the foundation for two weeks of lesson plans when I was teaching. It's a fantastic exercise. My results shouldn't really come as a surprise: Economic Left/Right: -6.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.49 Though some of those questions ...

Pearl Harbor brought the country together and Germany's subsequent declaration of war against the United States galvanized the nation against Germany, but old allegiances and business alliances die hard. One of Hitler's big mistakes was to declare war on the United States after the US declared war ...

Killfile knows more of the details than I do but the connection between the Bush family and the Nazi Party is well established rather than a conspiracy theory. I've got a book on this somewhere but I don't have access to my library for the next few weeks. I'll try to figure out the title. The degree...

Thats bullshit. If his contributions got him into the hall of fame, he should stay there, regardless. I can only assume that this comment refers to my question about the US interest in directing attention away from darker aspects of its history by removing this scientist from the Hall of Fame rathe...

Thus is the benefit of the footnote: Dr. Hubertus Strughold* was instrumental in identifying the problems of human travel in space, even coining the term 'space medicine' in a 1948 symposium in San Antonio. ---cut to the footnote--- * Dr. Strughold was also a member of the Nazi party. 12-16 years old females being married were an obligation when the average age of the death was 35 and/or when 90% of the kids were dying before reaching 10 As in the 1940's? That could (and probably is) be true. Imagine, for a moment, that Bush comes on the air in prime-time tonight. He says that we are invading France (just a random pick). Why? Some guerrillas are killing political prisoners in the south of France. The prisoners are all of French and German origin. Go...

Re: Genocide in Darfur
We should not have to bring to the attention of the entire United Nations every single human rights issue that comes forth. If we actually did that, we'd have about six seconds left for domestic policy. Have you looked within the US borders lately? We're going through a lot of problems of our own i...

You've already answered your own question to me, it seems. Based off the wording of your question alone, I know your stance on the issue (ignoring the rest of the text). Although my position was obviously not something I was trying to hide, I'm not sure what answer I provided to my own question. Co...

Genocide in Darfur
Violence in Darfur, defined by many as genocide, has displaced 2.5 million individuals, who now face disease, starvation, and attacks in refugee camps, and killed 400,000 men, women, and children. I bring this up because I am preparing to teach a fall course that focuses upon the processes of genoci...
