This just proves one thing: Never argue with an idiot. What may sound like a pervasive argument to a theist is just ridiculous bullshit to an atheist.

To me this guy represents the worst side of christianity. He's blunt, stupid, arrogant, and appeals only to stupid people, whom he will try to win over with his pseudo-logic and primitive jokes. He appeals to the rednecks who suffer from an inferiority complex and fear of the great unknown.

This is the best side of christianity. Since you're an idiot it should appeal to you, too, Mr. Zodd'sNo1Fan. Yummy.

Hehe.. Dane Cook isn't bad, but I prefer George Carlin. Like his take on things too.

The Carlin skit was good. Dane Cook was amusing but he sure sounds angry. But anyways...

As for my whole take on things, I have read most of what's been said.

I feel all popular religions are based on blood. I have often thought to myself, why is Christianity so widespread in the globe? As well as Muslim?

A typical believer would say that is the strength of their God. But I would then answer, the only reason Latin America and South America believe in Christianity was because many were forced to. Most religions killed non believers if they would not convert. African slaves here had to convert. And I'm not going to mention all the Pagans worldwide that had to convert, shit we still practice many of their customs ( Halloween, Christmas (The Sun God Day for pagans) )

Here in the Bay area, the Native Indians who would not convert were killed. And indians preferred sex with the woman on top, those that were caught were often killed too.

I don't think the organized religion is as corrupt as the same level as before the 1900's. I think many organized religions do alot of good now. I read a statistic that religious people give more to charity than atheist.

But still that does not excuse the millions of innocent people who have died because they believed in a different God, and lived a different culture.

Well, I was getting at the No.1 advocate of being stupidly religious. god'sNo1groupie, oh wait, how does he combine his holier than thou attitude with liking something like Berserk? Berserk is evil, it portrays god as a fundamentally evil being.

The thing about this thread is: It advocates opinions based on a general feeling about the facts. Until someone actually counts the bodies, and possibly sums up the good the religions do, we're down to the same stupid thing: Belief.

I'll give you one more thing to think about, though: Why do religions encourage their members to "do good"? And the answer is quite simple: Self-interest. Look at Hamas (not a religious group, really, but nevertheless religiously motivated) taking care of the actual losers in the Israel/Palestine conflict - at least, those on one side. Why do they do it? Well, without the hatemongers on either side there would have been no conflict, but after causing it, they'd better make sure people forget all about that. So they take care of people, hence ingratiating themselves, and gaining more support. Of course Hamas would never take care of the victims of palestinian terror, which is exactly how far their beneficiary spirit goes.

And with religions, it's ALWAYS like that. You don't think all that HELP that is being handed out is just for the general good. There is no such thing as altruism in religion. In the past, help was delivered to those who belonged to the same religion. Now, the more advanced groups allow themselves to recruit new members by helping others in need - who will then hopefully follow their way of thinking (or, in the religious case, not thinking) - instead of just accepting them help and saying thanks, goodbye.

Inside The Church Of Hate
Fred Phelps peddles his hate from a church in Kansas. His followers picket the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq - because he says they died defending a "fag country". Should he be free to preach his poison?
These people came to my university (UMW) 3 years back to protest our schools production of the leremy project. Problem is, I didn't know about it and drove through the main gates like I always do to goto school and was almost hit with a brick. I was called the foulest things imaginable by "Christians" because I wanted to goto class.

Personally, I didn't watch the production nor did I care much about it. I just wanted to goto my Ancient Greek philosophy, multi-variable calc, and discrete algebra classes.

I haven't seen the article because of my slow internet, but I think Fred Phelps was the one that says God made Katrina happen in New Orleans to clean up the 'fags and dykes'.

Tell these people that they aren't Christians. I'd love to see their response.
