2009: Lost Memories - A Korean film about an alternate future where Japan sided with the US in WWII; the US nuked Berlin instead of Japan and Japan took over Korea and became a superpower along with the US.

5/10 - Interesting story and decent gunfights.

Dragon Tiger Gate - A kung fu flick about these guys who um... fight these other guys and then theres this boss dude who is ridiculousy strong and they fight him as well.

6.5/10 - I had some pretty bad subs for this movie that were off by minutes so I was constantly adjusting the timing, which explains why I dont really know what its about, and its a kung fu flick. But the fights were pretty cool.

Shadowless Sword - Set in 927 AD, after the royal family of Balhae is assassinated, a warrior chick is sent to retrieve the last surviving prince from exile. But can she escort him back to restore order to the kingdom with the Killer-Blade Army hot on their trail?

6/10 - A decent wuxia flick from Korea. A bit random at times, like they were trying to make it a bit comedic. It just didnt feel right, they should have stuck with a straight drama. Sword fights were nice, but the exploding body technique might seem corny to someone who isnt a fan of the genre or hasnt seen more than CTHD, HoFD, and Hero.

Shinobi - Set in Japan during the Tokugawa Shogunate, two shinobi from rival clans fall in love with eachother(kind of a ninja Romeo and Juliet thing). Since Tokugawa is not at war with anyone, Japan has no need for Shinobi and decides the best way to get rid of them is to have them kill eachother. Cool, but not for the lovebirds.

7.5/10 - Basically a live-action Naruto. Weak story, little character development. Lots of ninjas with very different and cool techniques. I wish they would have shown more of the ninjas and their abilities, like that one dude who takes peoples faces. WTF? Nice special effects, cool fights, worth watching.

Now, a 5 might seem low to you, but the way I rate things it is average, so these weren't bad movies, they just werent great. And, of course, I rate kung fu flick differently, I dont really care about the story, dialog, or characters. If its there, awesome, but its all about the fighting.

Just like me kung fu and other martial arts movies get rated only on the fights the other stuff are only bonus.

All of those movies sound interesting and movies i would enjoy watching.

2099: Lost Memories i have had bad luck with. I have rented it twice, once i couldnt watch cause the dvd disc was messed up the other time i didnt watch cause i didnt had time to watch it cause it was the last movie to of the three.

Warren Ellis is writing the direct to DVD Castlevania animated movie.

I'm sure Libaax needs a tissue right about now.

Let's say nosebleed. It's the better option.

Not really Warren Ellis style is like Garth Ennis's style; hardboiled, very adult and direct.

In other words not exactly perfect for a pre teen animation movie.

If they let him have his way then i will bleed so much nose blood that i will lose all the blod in my body ;)

Hehehe, that will defenitely kick royal ass, not because I know much about Castlevania, never played it(seen others play it), but if it suitable for Ellis kind of humour(hehe, as someone mentionned in the link, would be a riot if Dracula refered to humans as fleshy ones, as a little weirdo robot likes to say in Nextwave ;)), and doesnt take itself too seriously, then it should be gold.

...the hell? You let Ellis run loose, the guy goes crazy in flurry of imaginative sci-fi-esque wonder. You let Ennis run loose, you get blood, guts, sodomy, mutilation and more sodomy. In my mind about half of Ennis's comics are complete garbage while the other half manage to be strangely engaging in the way they shatter all of society's conventions of common decency. (His two takes on the Punisher are, in my mind, the best examples of this.) Ellis, on the other hand, rearely does any wrong in my eyes. Sure, he goes over-the-top as well, but he's smart about it, while Garth just has a sort of animal cunning on occasion.

I personally prefer Ennis to Ellis, because he has a much more dark comedy humour to his works. I love his work on v3 and v4 of Punisher, I don't think any comic has made me laugh as hard as that. Ellis is more imaginative in his story, however, but his characters doesn't seem to be as badass as Ennis writes them, and sometimes the dialogue can be cheesy. Ellis has sarcasm on his side, while Ennis has some of his dark humour, and mocks his characters rather than making them look cool most of the time.

Actually, Ellis style is not always like Ennis', as in very adult. Don't forget, he wrote Ultimate Fantastic Four, Excalibur, Ultimate Extinction, etc. He's very capable of pulling this off.

Ellis to me is like Garth Ennis if he wanted to write supes or liked them.

Lets face it Ellis comics that are supes except Authority arent him at his best.

He doesnt have as much dark humor as Ennis but he is similer that he likes characters like that.

Really sucks that his left Hellblazer so early, his run was very interesting the only time JC had balls outside Ennis run.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Authority, but Transmetropolitan, Planetary, Global Frequency and his work on the Ultimate lines are all high on my list.

CRANCK

Post by behemot011 »

Just watched CRANK and would like to recommend it to everyone... Such an action movie, that I haven't seen in years... wooww... The beginning is like the music video for Smack My Bitch Up (Prodigy)... and pretty much the whole movie is like that.

I am waiting for this movie to come out here if does. If it doesnt im gonna download and then rent the dvd :P

Im a fan of Statham, liked him ever since Snatch,Mean Machine and specially The Transporter. He is the first white martial arts star in ages to make great fighting scenes. His kicking is pure gold. Most of all his fighting are entertaining which is what its all about. Which is also why this movie is very few of martail arts movie that has 7 rating after many thousands votes.

I cant wait to see his movie with Jet Li and see him kick ass even against Jet Li.

Yeah, I was talking to some of my friends and we all agreed that the whole movie would suck if Stathem wasn't in him. He has some kind of coolness... he seems very down to earth...

EDIT: I just remembered that I have it somewhere... DVD quality too... just ask and we can figure something out.

I'm a fan. Lock Stock, Snatch, and Transporter are all cool movies. Transporter two sucked though.

just saw the prestige. i have always been a fan of christian bale, and i liked the role he had, but Hugh Jackman wasnt so good. the movie was well done, but had too many "...or is it?" kind of plot twists. the cast was nice, but not anything really out of the ordinary. the wife, sarah was really good though. but i didnt like scarlet johanson's role or acting

ill give it a 8/10. it was good, well done, but the other than christian bale and his wife in the movie, i didnt really like the cast. the script was pretty good too. not great, but it kept me going. the lighting was amazing, and really just the whole piece cinematically was beautiful. very attractive.

Your're not alone in that. You just know you're getting a ridicolously quality performance from him, that its so eerily in character that it gets scary.

Though not to say I dont appriciate other actors, or that one isnt compelled to see movies if certain actors are in it. I most certainly get interested in movies if they have Denzel Washington, Johhny Depp, Gary Oldman(he doesnt do enough big roles though, not a lead actor like Bale), Tony Leung and the kind of rare quality actors like them.

Denzel Washington rocks, but lately all his roles seems the same...I hope he can get some new (and different) roles. Gary Oldman is great, but IIRC he usually has some problems with the directors - so that maybe why he has problems getting lead roles. Johnny Depp doesn't need comentaries, but Christian Bale fucking rocks. I was watching Batman Begins yesterday...

Hugh Jackman is a very good actor, but they're overexposing him...that can't be good to someone's image...
