E3 is done for.

Good news or bad news?

I'm not really sure at the moment, but I'm leaning towards the "good news" side for now.

E3 is exciting, but it's become more about flash and hype than about actual games (except for Nintendo).

There's always TGS, I guess.

PS: I added the poll on a whim, don't be surprised if it changes into "Is Buzkashi gay?" or something like that in the near future.

I was always thought E3 was way too flashy. Like Femto said, too much hype. If something could be done on a lesser scale, with less press and less booth shit, like the article said was a possibilty, I'd think it would be an improvment.

You guys do realize that E3 will still be held. It's just not gonna be as big as it usually is. For those of you who dont like how flashy E3 has been, this is good news.

E3 isn't gone.

what the hax

This makes me sad, if for nothing else than that E3 has always been Nintendo's platform from which to pWn its rivals' flashy presentations with actual content, like Femto said.

But, in the end, E3 as an event is probably overly bloated. As long as I get my trailers and information, I couldn't care less if it was held in a garage somewhere.

I have never been there so I couldnt real give a two shits about it... as long as people still release game news and trailers I will be just fine. But then again it would have been cool to go and see all the flash just once :(

I went once and it was a blast. But the way it is, I think its geared more towards entertaining the regular gamer like me, with all the lights, fancy displays, and booth babes, and its not really about the actual games.

Way too much glam and not enough games. E3 has always been too bloated. Glad it is gone and hope it stays gone.

I understand the reasoning for ending it, but for millions its like closing down Disneyland.

I thought that the reason why they are pulling the plug on it is because it's not profitable anymore? I know that LA hotels or something will be taking a hit.

In any case, it seems like E3 will exist in *some* form in the future, but much smaller and discreet apparently.

So, uh, yeah. Not really killed off completely, just smaller and name changes.
