I've seen Zatoichi, great action, although I can't say much about the plot....
INFERNAL AFFAIRS!! WATCH IT!! It's gonna be made to hollywood by the name of the Departed, where Martin Scorsese is directing and Matt Damon and Leonardo Decrapio is starring. Hollywood always butcher great foreign films.

I've seen a lot of movies similiar to Zatoichi where there wasn't much plot and all I can say is that what makes these movies great is what isn't said. It's hard to really explain it properly but I've seen a lot of Japanese movies and thought by North American standards, nothing is happening. A movie like Seven Samurai, for the people who haven't seen it, I won't ruin it but you pretty much know they're gathering up samurai to protect the village. During that time of finding samurai, there's some dialogue but not a whole lot yet this movie is still rated one of the best movies of all time. It's hard to explain why this method of directing movies is effective but it just seems to be that way.

No, but I'm into foreign films, cos they'll usually better than the usual Hollywood trash that seems to be producing. I like Asian (Korean, Japanese, Hong Kong) cinema alot, so if I see a film floating around on the net....

although some seem repetitive a lot of them are great concepts that are even copied by hollywood
if asian films had the budgets of hollywood films you would see cinema at his full glory - but even with their budgets now they make better films than hollywood
