And I for one certainly didn't expect the story turn-around in last chapter 55. Coming out to be a pretty impressive manga

Ya, and with that quote in the beginning, I could see it spanning to his life as an old man.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
I know, I was like, "What the heck?" It must have taken them a while to get back to this guy's farm, because Thorfinn had to have already reunited with Leif after they showed him that slave guy. That's the only way I can make any sense of how he's already been on this farm for a while. It can't have been too long after the last chapter though, I imagine.

Yeah, those guys don't know who they're messing with. If they go after the other slave guy, Thorfinn will probably defend him.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
so i just picked this up the other day, and i am very impressed, seems very epic
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Whats Thorfinn thinking? Letting them cut him down? Maybe its a trick so they can let their guard down. Then he'll go completely apeshit and take them all out..or maybe he'll stand there and get his head chopped off. Perhaps someone will come and save them just in the nick of time. hmm...we'll just have to wait and see.

Being attacked will jog his memory and then Thorfinn will be like he was back in the day!

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
No one likes Vinland Sage anymore?
I wanna see Thorfin take up fighting again, but in a more experienced/calm way. Seems like that's the direction the story's going. Taking its sweet time getting there though.

Yeah, I still like Vinland Saga, of course. I too am looking forward to seeing Thorfinn return to the battlefield, but I'm still enjoying it so far. Einar has grown on me as well. I hope things work out for them.
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
Just read the new chapter on mangafox
No Thorfinn
At least events are starting to move along on the farm though. I really wanna know how Thorfinn ended up here.
i give this about 2 more chapters until we something big happen. i cant wait!
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
So he hasn't forgotten about his past. I've been unsure about that since the farm arc started. Glad to know that at least.
Yea, I'm excited for the climax too. Just not too sure where the author's gonna go from here. Maybe an epic journey home/to Vinland?

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
yeah, the development of this manga is by far the most surprising in any manga ive read, and ive read a lot. its still good, but it feels like a whole different manga
Re: ::Vinland Saga::
I believe this is what's some people call the "Cerebus Syndrome", a sudden change in the tone and thematic of a work of fiction.
I agree with you, it's been very nicely done.
We are currently seeing the other side of medieval life, the boring, monotone, painstakingly hard and unrewarding life of the peasant. It's nice, and relevant.
Rolos approves!

Yeah, I agree. Cerebus Syndrome eh? Yeah, that definitely sounds like a good way to describe this current section of the story. Even though I'm the kind of guy who will always enjoy the action scenes the most, lol...I'm also able to appreciate the stuff that's going on now. This is still one of the best manga out right now, IMO. Well at least out of the ones I've read, obviously.Rolos wrote:I believe this is what's some people call the "Cerebus Syndrome", a sudden change in the tone and thematic of a work of fiction.

Re: ::Vinland Saga::
i think i need to re-read all of vinland saga, but anyone remember something pertinent that his Thors might of said to Thorfinn in the past?
did they get dumped in a ditch at the end?
as paragon said, it takes a good author to make being a slave on a farm interesting for this long. i am excited to see how Thorfinn matures as a character in the coming chapters.
I just found out the author of vinland saga was also the author for planetes
