That was an actually desktop I used before for my laptop. I thought it was hilarious, since when my parents used it they tried clicking on the 'folders'

well some of the pics are used for things like magazine covers and posters....I would still use them but just give credit because nothing specific was said. If you don't want the chances of a Korean law slapping you in the face don't use them I say.

As far as I know, copyrights are only there to prevent people from using stuff in a commercial manner. I doubt an avatar qualifies.

Actually, there was a forum that used a piece of artwork from a webcomic, and the author went completely anal about it. He threatened legal action and whined and bitched about it in his website. Frankly, if people see those kind of artwork in forums, they might actually be intriged by it. It's actually free advertising. And remember, 'imitation is a sign of flattery'.
