Thanks for the release guys, i really liked the close ups of the Berserkers Armour in this chapter.
I'd be lying if i said i wasn't disappointed by Miura going on hiatus again though... i hope it's not another 4 month long one.

I dunno. I kinda thought Gutts looked more like a crow than a dog when he launched himself at the ship. And the pic after he cut the sea cow in half kinda reminded me of Femto when he was just born, so I'm definitely more inclined to see a bird reference. Griffith was the White Hawk, so it wouldn't be too farfetched to think of Gutts as a Black Crow would it?

I suppose, though Guts' inner beast has always been portrayed as a feral hound. You can even see it in my signature next to Guts. Though here's a pic I found online.



Anyway, I always enjoy seeing the Berserk Armor in action. I really liked the picture of him on the figurehead of the ship.

So I wonder what the side effect of him using it this time will be? Its quite sad to see that now Gatts has accepted his role as protector of the group. Probably the most human we have seen him aside from the flashbacks. Now with every usage of the armor for the group he loses pieces of himself.

Anyone else think that page 3 of this chapter is very exploitable? Prime omake thread material.

it seems like it might be as i predicted, that the sea monster is in the ship. the monsters brings back memories of the count, im looking forward to see the sea monster.

I'm curious. Does anyone else think that the description/appearence/actions of this monster seem reminiscent of Cthullu? I just get this amazingly powerful Cthullu vibe every time I re-read the last four chapters or so.

Yeah, I think so. I don't know Cthullu that well, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was this inspiration for this section.

Very good chapter. The painels with Gatts in berserker mode were kick-ass

"this is a work of fiction. any resemblance to any real persons or events are entirely coincidental" -is that a joke or does it actually say that in the raw? sure its an art of fiction, but it IS inspired by real persons, events and places

It's most likely just a statement added in by the magazine publishers to defer liability, so we can just ignore it when analyzing what Miura's intentions may be. And ya, his work surely is inspired by a multitude of things, but it's harder to tell when Miura is consciously or unconsciously borrowing ideas. I would suspect that he is doing a bit of research for the new creatures in this world of Fantasia.

although i like this particular battle so far - that pirate really reminds me of Adon Coborlwitz (http://berserk.wikia.com/wiki/Adon_Bocovich). irritating guy that just wouldnt die and kept poping up.
