Casshern SINS

Recently started up to episode 3.
The theme is about human nature, so it may come off a little emo, but I think it blends well enough. Art style is cartoony, but sharp. Setting is post-apocalyptic (No-wai!), and follows our robotic protagonist (Casshern) throughout the world in which he is seemingly responsible for creating (you know, the apocalypse). He has no recollection of what he has done, but knows that at the very least he is the cause of it somehow. Throughout his journey he is hounded (*snicker*) by hordes of robots seeking revenge for killing the world, or because of a rumor that whomever consumes Casshern gains immortality (I know, robots seeking immortality; it makes sense when you watch it.)

So in how far is this different from the original Casshern series? I've been watching Sins too, but I haven't seen the original.

Since the series just began, I don't know how similar or unsimilar it is to the orginal other then the obvious use of characters. The theme of the story might be more introspective or mature then the original.
-edit: Luna was his partner in the previous lifetime, but in SINS he kills her (or is somehow responsible for her death.)

Ep.4 to me was another great example of Casshern's art style.

So is this anime related to the anime movie Casshan Robot Hunter, because it sure sounds like it. I might have to check it out sometime.
Went and looked it up. Well I guess it is, that's cool.

If you're talking about the Live Action movie, then not really. Other then the obvious use of characters, I don't think this story line detracts from the movie; it's more of a standalone of the same series.

Live action movie? Uh, no, I said anime movie. This series is clearly based off of this anime movie from the 80's. It's cool, I first saw Casshan, or Casshern as he's also known, back when I was a kid.

Then you're more informed. I didn't even know a OVA of Casshern existed, but from reading the synopsis it feels like SINS is still a standalone using the same characters. Episode 5 should hopefully give us a better idea of what's going on to compare.

Well I liked the OVA so I'll try to check it out sometime soon. I'd like to see how they've improved on the original.

I've taken an interest in this even though I've never bother with the OVA, movie, or anything else.
Instead of coming across as melodramatic, I believe it is a good example of not going too deep into the grim dark and the like. It was the artwork that originally attracted me, but I do like the poignant tone of the story and the ambiance is incredible. I'm looking forward into seeing how the story unfolds and I enjoyed what I've watched thus far.

Anyone still watching this? I'm up to episode 9 now, catching up as quickly as my crappy broadband will allow. The art is totally awesome and I love how brutal the whole setup is. But is it just me or was that tower just like something out of Biomega?

The site I was watching it from took their's off so I'm out of the loop. I liked how the anime started out, but it got progressively emotional as the episodes went on. Not to say I wouldn't finish it, but I just wish their wasn't so much introspective melancholy.
