N.h.k Question: About anime VS manga

Just finished welcome to the N.h.k anime, and felt very dissatisfied by the ending, does the manga continue where the anime leaves off? And if so what volume or chapter?

Where does the anime end? I've read the whole manga but never seen the anime.

Yeah, there were a lot of WTF comments because it's not a typical Hollywood slay the dragon, get the girl ending.
It's more like slay the dragon,
lose the girl, get a crappy job and slowly reintroduce yourself to the mundane horrors of reality.
I liked the anime ending though. I don't think the manga will leave you with a smile on your face but his relationship does goes through an extra stage or two. If you read the last three volumes available here on EG you'll be fine.

That anime ending sounds aweful. While the manga isn't lighthearted or anything, the ending isn't at least "bad" per se. At one point I feared for both of them but in the end it came out quite allright for them.

Vol. 6 and 7 are still available on EG so I would start there if you just want to catch the ending, vol. 8 is too far along. Ofcourse, if you liked NHK enough to watch the entire anime, the manga is definitely worth a read from the beginning. The drug use, prostitution, sex and nudity didn't make it into the anime.

My files are on a different drive so I can't tell you the exact part where the anime pulls a Claymore and goes down a different path, but in the anime I don't think he ever signs the love contract. He gives it back and shit hits the fan.
In the manga he signs the contract and the story continues on.

Hehe... well instead of drug induced hallucinations the guy is a paranoid schizophrenic (seriously, the dude meets DSM IV criteria and the fcker needs help!). Instead of his buddy getting it ON with his crush he curses her out and gets bitch slapped. They skip over the whole tranny episode entirely (ripe with potential, but it devolved into lame social commentary). What is in the anime is three fcked up people struggling to find meaning in their fcked up lives and trying to get along without killing each other or themselves... and doing piss poor at that. Now that sht is real.

If you think the manga is twisted, wait until you read the novel. It seems that the more primitive the medium, the more intense the story needs to be. Its almost as if we needed more shock to make things worthwhile to experience.

Also, since this doesn't really fit anywhere: in chapter 23, right before the
