In the gym I was reading a recent WIRED magazine, where on the cover it was about how Manga is taking a foothold in the US mainstream. And that its influencing US pop culture, beyond merely the "freaks & geeks" culture, its been shunned upon. Where US teenagers are even taking to learn Japanese, just so they don't have to wait for there favorite manga's to be translated in order to read the latest story arcs....Dark Horse anyone?
I thought it was interesting because I was one who always found it funny to see businessman reading manga at newstands and subway stations, when visiting Japan. But now ever since I found Berserk, doesn't seem so silly to me anymore.
Anyway interesting to see if Manga will catch on here in the states, like anime did in the late 90's.
...Sorry if this was discussed. Did a search with "Wired" and nothing came up.
