This is the place to discuss all your favorite asian movies you have seen, or are waiting to see.

I am looking foward to the new tony jaa movie being filmed, he is the main actor in it and also the director, Onk Bak 2 to be exact.

then these other movies look interesting to me as well.

'Crows Zero': http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1016290/

The first trailer of Takashi Miike's new work based on a manga of the same name

If its by miike it can't be half bad?

'Kantoku Banzai!': http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0996435/

Takeshi Kitano's new work. Oh, the wackiness!

I've yet to figure out if I hate or respect Miike. Although his movies aren't actually good there is something endearing in their unconventionality.

Hmm, I'm going to have to categorize by countries:

China/Hong Kong: Couldn't name my favourite right now, I've seen quite a few, some of the best I just can't remember the names. I still have a handful of DVDs I rewatch now and then. Still, it's hard to pick a favourite.

Japan: I haven't actually seen too many live-action movies from Japan. Of course, some Miike movies, and some classics (7 Samurai, the odd Gozilla, etc.).

Korea: Some of the best movies I have seen to date come from South Korea. I would have to list the obvious, like "My wife is a Gangster" (the first one, the second was not actually bad, just seemed rehashed), "Musa" (great movie about the nature of the warrior itself). Recently I watched "Tae guk gi" (The brotherhood of war?), a high budget war movie that can easily keep up with any hollywood production. It's a bit heavy on the drama, but still great to watch, and apparently a great success in Korea, too.

Thailand: Umm.... Ong Bak anyone?
I've also seen a very black comedy by the approximate name "the curse of the 69 or so", about a woman whose apartment for whatever reasons slowly but surely ends up with more and more dead bodies in every available closet. I'm going to have to look for that one again.

India: I'm quite new to Bollywood. Recently I watched "Asoka", which was actually quite good. Some years ago I obviously had to watch "Karma Sutra", which isn't really a Bollywood movie, so....

Haha Bollywood is huge for us somalians. I still enjoy a good comedy and good songs from their movies. In Somalia just like in Asia bollywood was bigger than hollywood. I mean we rented more them than Sly,Arnlord and co.

My fav right now of all asia is KOREA. They rock. Old Boy and its triology,A Bittersweet ,Life Double Agent,Joint Security Area,Shiri and many more.

Chan-wook Park is a huge fav.

Byung-hun Lee(A Bittersweet Life),Suk-kyu Han(Shiri,Double Agent), Min-sik Choi(Old Boy) are huge favs of mine. Specially Byung-Hun Lee is great and has huge potential. He is very cool too. Hollywood wants him bad but he said no to a role in the Guardian saying why should he play back up to Costner and even worse Kutcher. Thats class.

Hong Kong are all time fav of course. You cant beat Bruce,Jet,Jackie,Show Yun Fat,Tony Leung,John Woo(specially with Yun Fat. The Killer,Hardboiled are in my top ten movies of all time.

Reminds me its time for some old school Yun Fat ass kicking movies mixing with some Tony Leung.

Thailand: Has the new Bruce/Jet Li aka Tony Ja the first tow Ong Bak movies are one of the coolest fight movies i have seen. Specilly the first. I remember seeing with family and we screming "ouch, ooh" every time he kicked and broke people with his knees, elbows.

Watched Kikujiro which was pretty decent, at least it didn't bore me to sleep like SOME asian movies have done in the past. it being pretty much a drama with little bits of quirky humor. 7/10
